Hi,

occasionally, especially on a Monday prior to a Tuesday shut-down, I get the above message on the BOINCmgr event log. I am down to about 5 tasks to calculate which may or may not last me until after the the shut-down. Is there any way that I can get BOINC to send me more CPU tasks?

Thanks to all who read this and especially to those who offer comments.

John

Check your settings in the network tab set minimum work buffer to the max of 10 days and the Maximum additional work buffer to 0.0 and when a work units is done it will ask for more and not wait .

Click tools then computer preferences then click on the network usage tab

Thanks Glen,

that seems to have worked out ok. I must have lost the settings when I updated the BOINC version.

I believe that is only true if you are using the local preferences in the Boinc installation on your computer. It should not reset the preference settings in your Seti account.

BOINC very rarely loses settings when you upgrade - and if it does, you've probably given it a bad data file location, and *everything* gets lost.

If SETI is not the highest priority for fetching CPU work, that suggests you are attached to at least one other BOINC project: 10 days may not be a sensible value, if your other project(s) has/have more normal BOINC deadlines of 7 days or 14 days.

I suggest you review your settings at leisure, once you've grabbed the last of the tasks available before this set of tapes runs dry.
