Well, I have sad news to report. My companion dog of the last 8 years, Penny, has passed away. Yesterday she was as healthy as she has ever been but earlier today she must have ingested a small amount of residual rat poison that was in my bedroom. The room was cleaned out last weekend prior to installing a hospital bed and one of the things removed was a rat bait feeder that must have had a little bit of poison left in it that fell out onto the floor. The room was cleaned very thoroughly but apparently some poison must have been missed. She got sick early this afternoon and before I could get someone to come take her to the vet she died. I had fully expected her to outlive me but now I am having to deal with her death. R.I.P. Penny you were the best dog I have ever owned.
