The artist has drawn the picture about myths that spreads in the Ukrainian internet forums: Russians (in their Mordor), because of poverty and starvation, wear "vatneek" (old soviet-army-style cotton-wool coats), drink glass cleaners instead of vodka and catch hedgehogs for food.

Ruling United Russia stays at helm with 54.3%, rivals decry low turnout.
https://www.rt.com/politics/359864-russia-election-vote-result/
Sunday’s voter turnout in Moscow and St. Petersburg was a record-low in comparison to previous elections. The Russian capital saw a 20 percent turnout, while St. Petersburg saw 16.1 percent. The overall turnout stood at 47.8 percent of Russia's 111.6 million eligible voters, Interfax reported, citing CEC data.

In our country that turnout would have been seen as a disaster.

In order to enhance the population of Siberia and Far East regions, Putin's milieu is seriously thinking about using the population the Southern Federal District and Northern Caucasus.
The Council for Interethnic Relations Commission under the President of the Russian Federation has prepared the proposals for the colonization of the sparsely populated areas of the Far East and Siberia, Izvestia reports.
According to the publication, the Chairman of the Commission Aslambek Paskachev is to announce them at the Council meeting in October. After that, the proposals will be presented to Russian President. According to Paskachev, it is necessary to develop a program of mass movement of people from regions with surplus manpower to places where they do not suffice.
Izvestia reports. http://izvestia.ru/news/633536

Hopefully this relocation would not be like in 1944.

I know Igor. And that was during the Stalin era so it's not relevant any more.
But this story about moving people to remote areas reminds of my country.
Same story as in Russia and it doesn't work.
But Paul Romer, incoming chief economist at the World Bank, have this brilliant idea to us.
Sweden could turn the economic burden into a boon by establishing a Hong Kong-type "free zone," where refugees would be completely self-sufficient.
https://sputniknews.com/business/20160922/1045582847/sweden-hong-kong-free-zone-migrants.html
It won't happen neither in Russia or Sweden.

btw. In the summer it's very nice in Siberia and the Far East of Russia.

"If you want peace, prepare for war"
Well, Russia are now certainly doing it.
Even preparing for a total war.

Massive mobilization exercise on Monday, civil defense exercise involving 40 million starting Tuesday.

Russia also announced that it prepared enough bomb shelters for 100% (11 million+) Moscow inhabitants.

If you see Russian bombers that looks like this, please let us know.

One of the White Swans is called Alexander Novikov.

Alexander Alexandrovich Novikov was the Chief marshal of the aviation for the Soviet Air Force during Russia's involvement in the Second World War.

Russia Considers Reopening Military Bases in Cuba and Vietnam
https://themoscowtimes.com/news/russia-looking-at-reopening-military-bases-in-cuba-and-vietnam-55648

Russia showing muscles in Finland again.
2x RU Su-27s violated Finnish airspace yesterday. Both armed w/ 2x short-rng R-73 (IR), 2x med-rng R-27T (IR) and 2x R-27ER (radar) AA-missiles.
That's two airspace violations by fighter aircraft within 24 hrs!
Picture of second Russian fighter which is suspected of Finnish airspace violation over Gulf of Finland.

Happy birthday Vova:)

Lot of Russia military activity yesterday in the Baltics!
Estonia was also "visited" by the Russian Airforce.
The reason is that Russia are upgrading their missile systems in the exclave Kaliningrad.
https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dn.se%2Fnyheter%2Fsverige%2Frysk-flytt-av-robotar-skyddades-av-stridsplan%2F&edit-text=
The missile system Iskander has a greater range and accuracy than the systems that exist today in Kaliningrad. The Iskander system can shoot both ballistic missiles and cruise missiles against targets up to 400-450 km.
This means that they cover eastern Skåne, Blekinge, parts of Småland, Öland and Gotland (parts of Southern Sweden). The missiles can be loaded with both nuclear and conventional charges of different kinds.

The new Iskander-M is designed to destroy strategic targets within a distance of 500 to 700 kilometers.
