A while back I upgraded my system to include a whopping ATI (AMD) Radeon HD 5450 1GB. I've had trouble getting BOINC to find it. I've tried a buch of things, no luck. I have BOINC Client 7.4.23 installed via the Debian Testing Repository (Jessie), AMD APP 2.91 installed, AMD Proprietary drivers (1:14.9+ga14.201-2) installed via Debian Testing Repository (Jessie) and it is setup to run /etc/init.d/boinc-client at boot (running boinc at user boinc). User boinc has access to groups boinc, video and plugdev.

I find that BOINC has difficulty accessing the X server for AMD GPUs.

xhost +si:localuser:boinc

This is supposed to enable X access for BOINC, but I have trouble getting it to work properly so I just disable access restrictions altogether.

xhost +

Restart BOINC after doing so and it should detect the GPU(s).
