Actually no Gordon, as we have a radio station here in the village and 1 in each town north and south of us.

The lightening and thunder is still doing we here and it looks like this cell is brewing and spreading from right above us.

Cheers.

I remember when I was a kid there was a local 50,000 Watt station that had a talk show on that would sometimes get callers in from a few states away, but only on a clear night.

Well back in 1976 which in up state new york was one hell of a bad winter season, on my TV I had channle 2 kept blurring out and something else was there.
so after about a week I would say, one night I seen a TV station coming in from Miami and that 1500 or so miles away.

I used to always try to tune in far away mysterious stuff. ;~}

I think I would have enjoyed ham radio, but I never knew anything about it back then.

When I was into CB I got a call from a breaker in Denmark because the skip as running that night.

Well CB is in the 10 meter band at 27.000 MHZ which is a plus if you are looking to talk far in skip season , but close can be trying at times. It's great for very close contact.

20 and 15 meters were my best for talking around the world.
Cheers everybody

Citizen Band is in the 11 meter band. 26.965 MHz - 27.405 MHz.
I am close to Oklahoma City, Ok and have received stations in the Falkland Islands. Skip is wonderful at times.

*perplexed gaze round thread* Oh dear. I see some of you are in desperate need of some anniet advice *adjust paper bag so string handle leaves mouth operational*

Firstly - to protect toes against stubbings - insert legs into couch and ski pole your way around your environment. It is useful if your couch has wheels and to carry some onboard tools for widening doorways etc as you go. If no ski poles are at hand, brooms and keepnet poles will do (not fishing rods - especially if they're not yours - they break and... *roll one good eye and wedge other at unusual angle pointing at ear* ...people get REALLY upset about it). This may seem a little extreme but not as extreme as the last time I stubbed my toes, which was also when I simultaneously squished my fingers, hobbled off to cheer myself up with a coffee, sprayed myself with the cold tap whilst filling up the kettle, picked up my coffee with my good hand and stepped on the brushy bit of the broom which retaliated by not only whacking me in the face with the handle, but parted the handle from its mug which sploshed coffee on my hand, then plummeted all hot and heavy onto my as yet, uninjured foot. Remember - prevention is better than cure :) *rustle rustle*

Works on any bandwidth I believe, although skipping with that hair can prove a little... haphazard.

Now *bream brightly but invisibly at everyone* CRICKET!

The problem with test cricket taking off in America I believe is this... cheerleaders flinging maces and batons and pompoms all over the place might damage the pitch a bit (they're very funny about their pitches you see - mollycoddle them with blankets and everything *give up rolling eyes half way through due to alarming twinge*) and it takes F-O-O-R-R-E-E-E-V-V-V-E-E-E-R to play... and then... after all that... can end in a draw. But certainly if there is something you want to watch while you give up your will to live - then I can definitely recommend it :))))))))))))))

@Zappy - I hope this is helping you get through to that most disturbingly distant beer o'clock...

Now - as to what's on my bag - *peer cautiously at self in mirror whilst raising bag and avoiding gargoyle eye* it seems to be saying swvb which is odd because I thought it would say deus. Right way up it says *rustle rustle* SNAP ... oh... that might not be good...

G'morning everybody.

Well after the storm here yesterday evening that took us here to over 100mm (4") in the last fortnight.

I'm going to have to find my gumboots that I put away somewhere last Xmas and it'll be a while before I can mow my yard without getting the mower bogged.

1hr to go until that time of the day.

Cheers.
