Glenn, AP work being done when the validator is down is NOT LOST. You WILL get the credit eventually. So, WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL??? What makes it worth getting so worked up over? Think of it this way: your employer has a computer glitch in the payroll department and your pay doesn't get transferred into your bank account when it's supposed to. That's what's happening with AP credit. Except: 1- you don't need Boinc credits to pay your bills with, and 2- with over 3 million in the bank, you can afford a slight delay in getting "paid." P.S. I have no fear of being talked down to by anyone with spelling and grammar as atrocious as yours. I had a machine I was holding off reporting the completed AP tasks & decided to do it today. All of the AP with the creation date prior to the 26th validated nearly instantly. So the validator seems to be working just fine. So it looks like the process that is meant to flag WUs to be validated is more the issue. Rather than the validator itself. Out of the ones I reported 76 were validated pretty much instantly. I think I refreshed the page twice after reporting. Then I looked at any pending with sent date of the 26th or later. Most of them with a sent date of after the 26th have a 2nd result & should have been flagged to be validated, but for whatever reason were not. I was just confirming the date issue that was mentioned previously still is occurring after maintenance. I am going to dig thought the posts of this time last year and see if anything was mentioned then. As it looks like the same issue was occurring then as well. Yikes! The forums just went nuts on me. Try to read a thread and get code. Try to read another thread and it's back to a previous state, with my and other people's recent posts missing. Try to post here and get more code. Seems to be back now. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Very strange the way the main page comes up. If I select home page from Boinc is comes up code but if I go to message boards then press home from there it is normal. As far as some of the negative comments here I can only assume the problems stem from the Seti clan wanting to get all the V6 AP units in and done before we can go on to V7. I used to get pissed but all I achieved was high BP and nothing else. Now I just sit back and wait until the guys at Seti who work very, very hard complete their mission and work once again flows. The cure for an attitude is called "Northern Lights" Not the one up in the North Poles either. A nice 60/40 mix of Indica and Sativa. Works every time........ Michael |

What are we up to now, about 9 days and still no fix ... and out of curiosity, who is responsible for maintaining the machine and ensuring its operational integrity? |

It will be interesting to see whether or not tape 15no08ag producers any work as it is listed with a size of 0 GB. There must also be a shortie storm as the average result returned have been over 60,004 for most of the morning. All tasks I have had are taking 15 to 20 minutes on a 660 TI running 2 units at a time |

I got an AP resend (_2) yesterday which I completed and reported this morning. It appears to have validated immediately. The original WU creation date was September 13. |

;) just for fun (Numerology) Speaking of dates I just checked: We analyze data around 1420 MHz (1 420 000 000 Hz) http://seticlassic.ssl.berkeley.edu/about_seti/about_seti_at_home_2.html If this is 'converted' to Unix time 1420000000 it will give Wed, 31 Dec 2014 04:26:40 GMT: http://www.onlineconversion.com/unix_time.htm Not only this is the last day of the year 31 Dec 2014 but 04:26:40 gives the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything (42)" and 6*4 = 24 which is the reverse of the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrases_from_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Answer_to_the_Ultimate_Question_of_Life.2C_the_Universe.2C_and_Everything_.2842.29 *** In fact I wanted to check if the Unix time now is not near to the max for 'Signed long integer' (a similar problem we had ~year ago?) but the (usual) limit will be hit at: Hex 0x80000000 = Dec 2147483648 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integer_(computer_science)#Long_integer   - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

*looking at RAC, suppressing slight panic attack* Tell me about it... I remember when this host was on the front page; Now it's just setting there with 681 Pending APs without any new work in sight. The only thing that makes any sense is if 'they' are working on a method to weed out a whole bunch of 'bad' results. When I went to the Free-DC page I found the perfect sentiments; |

It sure would be nice if we knew what is going on with the APs and the home page. Oh well I shall crunch on. |

It sure would be nice if we new what is going on with the APs and the home page. Oh well I shall crunch on. Indeed. Until they stop sending out work completely I shall be crunching on something. Until new work is generated we will know know if the current issue with WUs getting flagged to validate is an ongoing issue. It could already be resolved & things will clean themselves up over time. The home page got fixed and this is probably the problem with the AP validation. The status of "Not Running" isn't really a problem. The validator seems to be switching on & off as there are things for it to do.
