Hi Annie

Internet said it wrong:)
Infrared radiation, are much lower in energy than microwaves.
Not true. Microwaves have less energy then infrared radiation!
Simple maths:)

E=hn

where E is Energy in Joules (J)
h=6.626E-34 Js
n is frequency in hertz, 1/s

Yes... this bit...

infrared radiation, which is much lower in energy than microwaves

...made something in my head go clunk I must admit... but I put it down to putting my beer down too hard... Thankyou Janne!! You know... for reassuring me about my beer and for clarifying everything with the numbers and letters too! :)

Is not math Beautiful:)
Max Tegmark at MIT thinks that too.

About beer maths I have to call my friend who are a brewer!
He is called Mats.

I ended up having a discussion today with someone on how the light from two stars could never meet.
I tried to explain it as two people walking towards each other at 1MPH (the speed of light) on an airport walkway. However the stars are at the opposite ends of the visible universe are flying away from each other at a total speed of, say, 0.6C. So the walkways are moving in the opposite direction of 0.6 MPH. But also the universe itself is expanding and with a distance of 28 billion light years (visible) between them lets say in totality the universe is expanding at that distance at a rate of 0.6C. So the walkways themselves are moving away from one another at 0.6MPH. That means that despite the light from the stars travelling at 1C they are also moving away from one another at FASTER than the speed of light and thus will never meet.

I'm going to drink some more beer to cure the headache I've just developed :) Cheers :)

Cheers!!! :)

Well past 2am and just been wandering the neighbourhood for the last hour calling for a lost dog I've never seen and have no idea whether it will come to me even if I do see it :/ No luck :( Found seven foxes though... who did not approve of my whistling and calling them Pippa, heh heh heh :)

Poor neighbour is in such a mess :( couldn't leave her wandering about on her own sobbing :( totally hampered her ability to whistle for one thing. And I think she's broken her wrist too :( She must've fallen over at some point. Will go back out in a bit...

Another beer is tempting - but I think I'll have a coffee instead.

Cheers everyone! :) YAY... Wiggo's beer o 'clock! :)

edit: Celt for Mayor!! EXCELLENT policies!! I vote YES!! :)

Awww... :( It's so frustrating when that happens. I always manage to come across the ones that look like they need some rescuing and/or help to find their owner at the one moment in the day when doing so immediately is virtually impossible. That goes for cats and dogs. And do they hang about waiting for you to return? No. They don't :/

Of course beer is science.
In fact the beer analogy is true:)
Im not joking here.
There are many TV shows explaining this, especially BBC.
And some US TV shows.

But dont look too deep in your jar:)

Not only beer foam.
Mayonnaise as well:)
Very scientific.
It is about the structure and texture. Very strange.
