Here is the fifth instalment of Whiskey's

THE MINI-CITY NEWS THREAD.

So let's have a thread for all the Mini-City stuff. Stats, congrat's, etc. all in one place.

Let's start with a little history...

Before the 5th of October 2008 the populations of the cities founded by Whiskey, Moon, Uli and Eagle were increasing at a rate of approximately 18 per day.

On 8th of October 2008 the population increases were in the hundreds per day.

Now they are in the thousands, the higher numbers the result of using various click exchanges.

Pictures of the Mini-Cities are generated from information in a database. Each independent click on a city's page (per 24 hours) contributes to the development of the city. As well as population, the city model includes industry, transport, security and the environment, which deteriorate if the city is neglected, causing people to leave! You can create a city by visiting MyMiniCity.com. "Click exchanges" (listed below) automate the clicking and increase click counts, but if you start using them straight away on a new city, you miss all the early evolution of buildings etc in the display, so I suggest you build the city just using real clicks for a while first.

If you use Firefox (and in some cases related browsers,) the following add-ons are relevant:
Flashblock: replace Flash content by buttons -- reduces mini-city page load times;
Cookiewhitelist: cookie management -- otherwise you will have thousands of extra cookies cluttering up your browser;
NoScript: JavasScript etc management -- decide which sites may or may not execute JavaScript;
LeechBlock: block particular sites completely -- avoid sites you do not wish to support
BetterPrivacy: delete Flash supercookies -- recommended by The Dreamer.

Seti City: this is "the" seti@home mini-city created for us all (and of course our kitties) by Mark.
Skofus: this was a Ruined City adopted and rescued in true Nevil Shute fashion by Uli.
Ariz Moon City: Miss Moon's mini-city.
DvorakSociey: created for Antonin by KWSN Ekky Ekky Ekky.
UAE Residents: Whiskey's mini-city.
rwrwton: Bill's mini-city.
city of rOZZ: (Belgian) Julie's mini-city.
Thirteenth Tribe: Sparky's mini-city.
En-Ki-Du: (U.S.) Julie's mini-city, currently deliberately receiving no automated clicks
KWSN, TFFE: cities for the corresponding teams.
Utopia ref: used to receive clicks from Utopia only, as a result of a single account using one IP address, currently not being updated.

Hydra is only giving out around 120 visits per IP addy tonight.
Criminy, it takes a long time for me to make my 3000 or so visits at that rate.

As usual when things get this tangled on Hydra, I have sent a message to Vandhall to see if he can effect some repairs.
