Congrats on getting your own status image up and working! Now you just need to ask Timmy politely for help with an avatar image and you're all set!

Why can't I get this avatar to come through with more contrast?
I have tried all kinds of combinations jpeg, png, 256c, 16c, and contrast enchancement off the scale.

This is how I use Photoshop to create the avatar I use.

When I start PS I select New and change the image size settings from inches to points for Document Size and the points to 100 x 100 and the resolution to 72 pixels/inch.

Then after I create the avatar I select "File" and select the "Save for Web". This will bring up two windows, the left panl has the origional and in the right panl you can play around with the quality to get the file size you want and see what it looks like before you actually save it.

I use Photoshop V7

The problem is that the forum doesn't use the new avatar. It still uses the old one without the red bars on the top and bottom.

No where ... yet ...

I am working as fast as I can. :)

I do at least mention avatar in my glossary now on my new site. The problem is that I still have tons of pages to go to get all the references, images, links, pages, text, etc migrated to a PHP driven site.

You can go and preview the site which is live now though there are still problems. Most of the problems are mostly issues with missing icons, images (Like for Einstien@Home I don't have an account, so I cannot get any images of the protected pages yet) and graphics.

The "good" news is that I am making good progress and touch almost all pages each day as I do global changes to the link structure and add the new features. The bad news is that I still have lots to do yet. The old site is still up for use and will be until about March when my .Mac subscription is up for renewal and I don't buy as much on-line space.

Additionally, and planned for the new site is phpMyFAQ where participants can look at the FAQ and add comments ask questions and so forth. I also hope to add a forum ...

But for now, I am trying to finish the migration and to add in the new features of BOINC where appropriate.
