For those who have not noticed, the date of creation of each team is now displayed on the home page of each team !
Good thing ! :)

If I had to guess, I'd say that all teams created before a certain date were assigned 1 Mar 1999 because the date wasn't tracked before some date (maybe a couple of years ago)? Looking through the list of University teams, in the first 40, there are only 2 that don't have that date, one in Dec 2012 and one in 2013.
I guess it's possible they were all created on the same day, but it doesn't seem
likely to me...

You meant to tell me. That our SETI@home team was not created 3 months before the motherboard was even released? I don't know. Seems fishy to me...

I see some teams from 2004 & 2005. So I am going to guess that the team creation date started with the change over to BOINC.

I wouldn't put too much store the team start date, according to my data, I joined Seti after my team was created, odd since I created the team AFTER I joined Seti ;-)

c'est la vie

Perhaps would there a possibility to request an amendment of this date to Eric...
The increment is automated but it certainly should be able to change exceptionally... maybe...

To be honest Thomas, it's not worth worrying about, crunching is the name of the game, not fame ;-)

It would seem creation date for teams was not tracked on classic SETI@home. So there is no data to use to amend the date.

Hi all, this is interesting stuff. That they did not track membership start during Classic is obvious as my team start date is before my current start date of Apr 00. Yes I am 1 of the many with the Mar. 1 1999 start date.

Created 1 Mar 1999

I had thought I lost my start date by upgrading to new platforms for crunching.

Regards
Robert

Edit for a thank you.

Thank you for the befriending in my account Thomas, I did add you.
