Before work I had to shovel 4" of that white crap. So what happens? We are now getting that stupid sorry $^#$%^$% lake effect white crap. I can expect to have to shovel at least 6" of that rotten stuff again. And Im getting sick of the constant cold also. Spring cant get here fast enough. [/quote] Old James |

I can expect to have to shovel at least 6" of that rotten stuff again. And Im getting sick of the constant cold also. It's called winter, and being in the snow belt you should be used to it by now. People here in Philly Towne don't believe me when I tell them about lake effect snow. This winter reminds me of good old fashion winters in Ithaca & Rome of my youth and here during the 70's. Right now they are forecasting 6+ inches, depending on the track Pax takes Wed. into Thurs. There's also a possibility that we could get up to 12+, and that's not counting the ice that's also forecasted. Communities are running out of salt and supply is getting scarce. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

I don't know about there, but here in Chicago this is the 3rd snowiest winter since they started keeping track of snowfall. It's also the 7th coldest. We are well into the wettest winter on record in the UK - an example of how wet is that where I live the February norm is about 40mm of rain, and thus far we have had over 50mm this month, and its not even the mid point! I can expect to have to shovel at least 6" of that rotten stuff again. And Im getting sick of the constant cold also. We've had 43.3 inches so far this season, where the normal average is about 16. Latest forecast as I'm writing this is 6-9 in the Philly area with snow, sleet, rain, then snow in that order starting late Wednesday night and lasting through Thursday. They are advertising Pax as being a 24hr storm here. If Pax moves further east, then all bets are off and the amounts climb -- could be a foot. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Over the 80mm mark here now. HUGE storm expected today. Rain and winds of up to 100MPH in places. Stay safe! Especially those in Ireland and North Wales where the highest wind speeds are expected. |

200k customers without power. Number going up even though the electrical trucks are out and have already re-connected 100K customers. More ice on the way. Some areas are expecting 1+ inches of ice. 1/4 inch of ice is enough to break tree limbs (and possibly drop them on a power line). 1/2 inch of ice is enough to break a power line between the poles. 1 inch of ice is enough to break the poles. Locally we are expecting a total of 1/4 to 1/2 inch. BOINC WIKI |
