According to an email received today, I joined Seti@home back in May 1999. Because of this email, I decided to install and get back into it. But wait, it's not that easy. I'm running Ubuntu and installed from the package manager. I just get are error messages, possibly due to my V6 install and it wants V7. Well without a step-by-step upgrade or fix instruction I'm probably not going to bother. My computers will continue running 24/7 with not much to do. A search for info on the error message turned up this thread. A sensible question containing a simple typo, and the only answer is "That tells us a lot.". It's a good idea to think about replies for a while before posting; this is not my first draft. :( Paul (pissed off and out of here). |

Well, if you've installed Linux before you know there is a lot of information needed to work on problems. I quit playing with Linux back around SUSE 8.2 but you might check out http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=10 the Number crunching forum under Message Boards. (I got tired of dealing with missing libraries and permissions problems that seemed unending.) There are a number of people in there that run Ubuntu and should be able to help you. |
