Is it to determine the explosive force of the propellent? Correct ! This tool, called Ã©prouvette, measures the potency of a black powder mix/preparation/batch. A charge is placed in the barrel shaped end and lit by placing it over a flame. The black powder explodes and its strength can be determined by counting how many notches the cap was flinged over the spring. Ã‰prouvette is a generic french word for tester so the best translation I can come up with is ' Gun powder tester '. Google images agrees. Good job ms ! Your turn :) mambo ID: 1471832 ·
