50s tomorrow and 60s Sunday. Beautiful weekend for photography, right?

Clouds all day today, rain moves in some time tomorrow and carries on into Sunday.

<BEEP BEEP BEEP>

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning.

[edit]
Seeing that it's 65 out, I may open the window and let some of that high wind blow through the house.

This is Jerry Taft. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch.

(Jerry is the chief meteorologist for WLS-TV, ABC7 Chicago, so they use his voice on their smartphone weather app.)

Politicians on the local Sunday talk shows? (8{p
Ther's been a high pressure system stuck over Los Angeles for the past week, keeping the jetstream and much-needed rain pushed far to our north. I like to blame such things on politicians making speeches and generating too much hot air.

Sunny and cool here. 48F going to 66F today.

Severe thunderstorm warning here. Large tornado moving toward the south side of Streator. Message boards at Soldier Field are advising people there for the Bears game to be ready to move to shelter if it becomes necessary.

Now a flash flood warning.

Tornado went near Wilmington, about 40-50 miles south of me.

They finally stopped the Bears game and moved everyone down to the concourse a few minutes ago.

Starting to see pictures of damage from the Peoria area. The mayor of Coal City says there appears to be a lot of damage in the next town east, Diamond.

BTW, while the worst of it is going by to the south, it's really nasty up near where Lynn lives too.

The tornadic cell is now moving out over Lake Michigan at Gary, IN.

We're getting another t-storm here, not as bad as before.

We still have the high wind warning in effect, even though the cold front has gone through.

There was also a tornado in far southern Illinois, accounting for two of the five total deaths in the state (known so far).

The entire city of Washington and the Diamond Estates subdivision of Diamond are under curfew for tonight. No one can get into the area without an ID showing they live there.

The Coal City school district, which also includes Diamond, has closed its 5 schools for tomorrow, not due to damage to them but because their bus company's dispatching office was hit. The power lines down are also part of that decision. Sounds like reopening the schools will be a day to day call.

There was a picture of at least 3 high tension power line towers crumpled.

Since 1951, there have only been 12 tornadoes in the greater Chicago area in November, and 6 of them were on the same day in 1965. That's before today. Most of these were F2s. The ones today are estimated to be EF3 and 4.
