Nice scree Chris. Your prejudices are on full display. Wonder if that is what a party politician is permitted to say today?

You seem to forget there is a segment of baby factories that only knows how to be a baby factory because of the failures of the educational system and the old rules of society that wanted baby factories. As such cutting off benefits just results in social services finding a three bedroom house pigsty with a dozen people living in it and not enough food to go around. In your world you now have to pay to place the children all over and pay to incarcerate the adults for their failure to be good parents. The key here is the taxpayer is on the hook no matter what.

Now, if they were taken away and quietly castrated, I might just be persuaded to look the other way.

When someone else mentioned castration this was your reply......

If we go down that route we will be no better than the arabs that chop off hands for stealing, or stone women to death for adultery. Want to bring back hanging? Tar & feathering is a good one?

Just typical of a two-faced hypocrite. It's either your way or the highway.

Well what can one expect from a member of a party that can't control their zips or members.......

The answer was supplied earlier in this thread. No longer be a welfare state. The state will provide your education. After that you work and provide for yourselves.

Why? It was their choice. You just said it earlier, Why should the rest of us pay for them?

Also, with the kitty getting emptied, just where is all this money for foreign aid coming from?

Exactly the point I was making. You can't stop people producing kids, and we don't want to go down China's route. So what is the solution so social services don't have to clear up the mess, and the man in the street doesn't pick up the tab?

Unfortunately the solution is to go China's route.

Of course you could change it so paying for it isn't considered a problem, however the [nasty non-PC word] would never go along with that.

There is another way but like you said the nasty PC brigade won't go for it.

Have all pubic sector workers including politicians only get pay rises in line with inflation, just like pensioners

The money saved would soon build the kitty up.

When I say we have a whole generation who are welfare dependent

The choice was made, the bed is there, we must lie in it. If it costs too damn much then we can't complain about squalor in the future can we? Or we can go China's route.

What problem? You already made the choice to be a police state by worrying about squalor in the first place ...

Quietly sterilised perhaps, castration is a little extreme. A vasectomy is a far quicker, cheaper and less invasive procedure.

Vasectomy won't prevent this, whereas castration will.

Sorry 1st time, I can't so call police please

Another import living it up at our expense. Are journalists now becoming authors with their "poetic license?"

It was at the Crown Court yet the picture is that of the Magistrate's Court. Too bloody lazy to walk 3 minutes around the corner to take a photo of the County/Crown Court!

Excuse me? Police states do not worry about squalor, that is why they are like they are.

nanny state = police state

each sticks its nose into private matters. as such there is no difference between them.

A nanny state imposes rules upon it's citizens because it cares about them, and wants them to be better off, even if they cannot see it.

A police atate imposes rules upon it citizens because it doesn't care about them, and just wants to force compliance whether they like it or not.

Depending on how you personally see a given rule ...

These two end results are one and the same. If they cannot see it, then who makes the decision for them, and why do they have to accept it whether they like it or not? Either way, there's no choice involved when someone else is making the decisions (whether you believe it is for their own good or not).

Wrong - a police state will kill you for thinking about taking a particular action, while a nanny state will make illegal for you to take that same action.

Apart from death, either way is a lack of choice.

No, the police state will kill you to remove the potential of choice, but the nanny state will allow you to make what it sees as a "wrong choice" then persecute (sorry, prosecute) you for taking that path.

So it is your contention that police states only use death and they do not incarcerate?

There is all the world of difference between not knowing "officially" about a certain fact, and being aware of it "privately". How do you think politics, International detente, and diplomacy works? Gossip down the pub is quite another thing, which the Mail thrives on. Methinks you are carried away with the season :-)

That may be all well and good for the average MP, but when they become government ministers, they have to be aware that it will come back and bite their ass.

What all this tells the country is that they really don't give a damn. How are your colleagues doing in the "season" let any zips fly?
