How old?

Have you tried hair ball medicine?

Healthy cats can go up to seven days with no food without any ill effects. I like to ask have you ever seen a starved to death cat in a tree or up a pole? No. When they get hungry they come down. Check it out. Some cats can be skinny and be Ok. That is a tuff call you have going there. I would think monitoring her habits is the best barometer of her condition. She will fatten up with exercise and time hopefully.

If she is running stairs and playing and sleeping like normal you might try reducing amounts and or frequency of meals to see if she will want more. Reverse logic works for a while some times or hopefully once on mine. Hehehe Try a different time of day in a different place/room. Try a raised feeding dish she has to stand up at to eat not bend down. I did that for an injured one once. One other thing does her tags and junk (mine got bells & tags) hung down in the way and or get in the food/water?

GF If your Vet is not worried nor should you be. Latte is skinny too, but I think I got the problem solved.

With a few exceptions, most kitties are pretty good at self regulating their weight. As long as her energy and activity levels seem normal, I would not worry about her too much. If kitty is hungry, she will eat. It won't hurt to offer her extra food and treats if she wants them.

I used Nutri-Cal for Squirrel when she had lost a lot of weight before her hyperthyroidism was diagnosed. It's very nutritious, depends on whether kitty accepts the flavor or not. Squirrel doesn't care for it too much, but she is maintaining pretty well right now, so I don't force it on her.
She gets all the mushy food she wants, and is vocal enough about asking for it.

She has had a few bouts with inflamed gums, which caused her discomfort while eating. A week of antibiotics cleared that up each time, and I just keep an eye on her when she eats. I know how she reacts if it flares up again, and I can just call the vet for a refill when necessary without packing her off for a visit. The vets trust me when I tell them I know what is going on with her.

Mark, Latte is a Dog.

I should have used the reply button to be clearer.
I was referring to Angela's kitty, not Latte.

Just an update....

Squirrel kitty is still hanging on. Actually has been eating rather well these days and I think she has gained a few ounces!!!

Tigger II is doing so fine since her last round of antibiotics and steroids for her eye problem.
I have never seen her so bright eyed. Big and bright. As they should be.

I have been told by my newest Vet, that too many Steriod shots are BAD.
Ziggy has Allergies, so not the same thing as Tigger.

You don't think I read about the drugs I give my kitties???

I know the risks. The very drugs I gave Tigger have the risk of retina damage.
So what could I do? Let her go blind or take the risk?

You take the choice, what would YOU do?

I have consulted with about 20 vets in my area.
20 of them have agreed with my course of treatment.

I think you may underestimate my level of concern for my kitties, dear.

I have been giving Squirrel thyroid meds for years now.
Since she almost died on me so long ago.
Methimazole HCL, if you really wanna know.

It has kept her alive for a couple of years.

You best not give me any stories about keeping kitties alive.

I also kept Tigger alive by giving her fluid injections every single day for 9 long months. Every day.

EVERY DAY for nine months until she passed. And you have the gall to question my love of kitties?

I think some of you had best stand down.

There is a reason I am known as the kittyman.
I have a kindred spirit with them that knows no bounds.

Just something about them.

I shall never be able to explain it to you, really.

When a creature such as a kitty can give you so much that you cannot explain it?

How could I begin?

Mark stand down. You have not grown up on a farm. Please don't piss me off further.
I know you love your Kitties, but we love ours no less.

I leave you with this bit.

An old bit by an amazing man.
Hal Holbrook.

Doing his bit as Mark Twain.

[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIXzG0kg15c' [/url] His bit about catholics and other religions is priceless.
He's the only man who has one true religion.........several of them.

Mind you, he was not immune to using the N word.

He could face up to some of you and speak his mind.
As I have tried to do so at times.

I can help you.
I can help me.

We can help each other.

I can do this, as can you.

You idiots just might squeek by with a 'C'.

In the morning, I shall awake to a new day.
One full of hope and new beginnings.

Pay it forward.........just do it.

I don't believe all of you have that promise.
I do.

There is hope for the kittyman.
No matter what some of you may think, he is full of life and brightness.

He rejoices in the love of life and the joy that kitties bring to his world.

He loves YOU, and all the you bring to his world.

When he loses his way, he needs you to bring him back home.
And you do, friends. You do. Thank you.+

Now, if you will excuse me,
I do have a beam of light to catch.

There is enough life on earth to fill 50 planets.

You just don't see it.

I do.

Would you please join me in wishing my dear Squirrel kitty a most Happy Birthday?

She is 18 years old today. She is sitting here next to me on the couch, and Tigger II is draped over the couch behind me.

Squirrel gets her choice of kibbles today, and she knows it.
Her paw is on my arm right now......

Many meows has this gurl given me. I love her so very much.

Happy Birthday, my beloved Squirrel.
