I can remember the days when Matt and the lads, tore their hair out because we couldn't get more than 50Mb from the link. Now people are complaining because we can.

Some people who make 1 post in 12 years should go and take a chill pill, and be grateful for what they get.

Chris: I don't think grateful is the right word. Satisfied works better. The flaw in your 50 vs. 100 comparison is that the increase in bandwidth has been greatly surpassed by the increase in demand, driven by better-performing computers.

Al Capone: how does it hurt you if you don't get any work? If you intended that as a threat -- "Give me more work or I'll leave and not do any for you" -- sorry, but they won't miss you.

Not interested in any other projects. I like to think that we are not alone in the universe that's why i joined S@H in the beginning.

I havn't recieved any new WU´s to process.

This may be true, but the "fault" could be on your side!

If this will continue for much longer i will delete my SETI account on all my computers.

You're free to leave the project if you want. But you're also free to rejoin it later!

Wanna bet? There's a lot of possible reasons for why this
project may fail, but for the want of volunteers
to crunch work units comes below that of actually
finding an intelligent extraterrestrial signal.

Just a confirmation on WUs. I just completed receiving 20 of them right now. Speed was roughly 20K/sec as the gigE graph still shows 100% utilization. However, they are being fed out! So stay in line and you will get some eventually. :)

Here it is Wednesday morning (Jan 23) and for the first time since the air conditioner outage 10 days ago I have no WUs trying to download.

It was a frustrating 10 days as so many of these posts have noted -- and I'll admit I didn't think I'd ever get back to a "normal" work cache and was pretty sure the usual Tuesday outage would back things up even more.

So, congratulations on whatever you guys did abd keep up the good work.

'concurrent' is user configurable, but 2 is the default.

Transfer speed is whatever the server can send when overloaded - 5kbs sounds about right for the SETI project, most of the time.

But please ask questions in one of the discussion fora, not a news thread - unless it directly relates to the subject of the news post.

I've tried to update on three different computers and get "Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer" each time, whether the computer is just reporting completed tasks or is also requesting new tasks...

Per WU aprox 2,5min workingtime // setup to crunch 8 WUs simultaneous.
To not waist GPU time iam using as backup Collatz Conjecture for the time i dont get S@H work..

Well there you go. Perhaps you were a bit hasty earlier?

Bill W and I, and many others, are around for the long term, despite all the ups and downs that Seti has. You either fundamentally believe in this project or you don't. If you aren't prepared to ride the waves, then we all wish you well if you wish to crunch elsewhere.

Yes, we are grateful for what we do get, as well as being satisfied. Doesn't mean we wouldn't like more though :-)
