I believe in what I can see. I have seen photos of bubble chambers and could easily distinguish the particles from their tracks. Now even neutrinos leave their marks in liquids well down the surface in the Gran Sasso National Laboratory. Dark matter has shown no sign of itself so far, only indirectly by gravitational lensing according to Einstein's general relativity. Gravitational waves may be detected by Advanced LIGO or by the eLISA Pathfinder which will be launched around November 25 by a Vega launcher. Wait and see. Tullio |

I believe in what I can see Seeing in the quantum world is a problem. When you try you destroy the measurment. I Believe in math:) |

No, there is a technique which does not alter the measurement. Quantum mechanics is still in evolution. It seems that gravity can make the difference. The Schroedinger cat is either alive or dead. Tullio |

No, there is a technique which does not alter the measurement. Quantum mechanics is still in evolution. It seems that gravity can make the difference. The Schroedinger cat is either alive or dead. Schrödinger's cat. Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment presented in 1935 by Erwin Schrödinger to show the flaws in the theory of quantum mechanics when applied to macroscopic level, but it has popularly come to be misconstrued as an example of the problem of uncertainty in the observations arising out of anyone actually observe (cf. if a tree falls in the forest when no one hears - does it sound?). Anyway. There is some people that Thinks like me. The speed at which things travel is supreme. It’s not just space that is important it’s spaceTIME. We too travel at the constant c but through the time dimension. This is the interesting thing. Everything travels at c through spacetime and it’s simply v+t=c. Light being massless has no t. Neutrinos are no different. There is one speed in the universe, call it C (the constant). Since space and time ante one thing, “spacetime†EVERYTHING moved at C through spacetime. A body with intrinsic mass is slowed down through space so it travels forward at the speed of C, mostly through time. That’s why we age. Light doesn’t. From the perspective of light, it’s still the Big Bang since it has always used it’s “C†in a maximum space speed, zero time. Hope this blows your mind. He is maybe wrong about photon age since photons age when they are within electrons. btw Schrödinger thought himself that his illustration was silly:) |

Scientists have a saying when handling the quantum world. "Shut up and calculate" |

Photons are transferors of light. What I wonder about is if they would possess energy of their own to be able to create or rather gain momentum. How it works illustrated in a Feynman diagram. I didn't know that a positron was created for a very short period... |

event horizon?? Stephen Hawking believes he’s solved a huge mystery about black holes On Tuesday, famed physicist Stephen Hawking presented new theories on black holes to a crowd of esteemed scientists and members of the media at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2015/08/25/stephen-hawking-believes-hes-solved-a-huge-mystery-about-black-holes/ |

event horizon?? Saw that Lynn. He now belives that conservation of information can get lost in a blackhole. Hawking focused on something called the information paradox, which continues to puzzle scientists who study black holes. In a nutshell, the paradox involves the fact that information about the star that formed a black hole seems to be lost inside it, presumably disappearing when the black hole inevitably disappears. These things cannot be lost, according to the way we think the universe works, and physicists generally believe that they aren't really lost. But where does the information go when the black hole that's absorbed it goes kaput? http://www.dn.se/webb-tv/klipp/nyheter/det-handlar-hawkings-nya-ide-om/ Wonder what Lenny Susskind says about that... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DIl3Hfh9tY |

The idea that the universe is a hologram is not new. It was put forward by Gerard 't Hooft and others about twenty years ago. Tullio |

@janne He also believes black holes leads to another universe. No impossible. It's possible that black holes could actually be portals to other universes, he said. "How The Universe Works", had an episode on black holes, and the theory was brought up. |

@janne Other universes or maybe other dimensions? Wouldn't that make them wormholes? I'm still bothered by the idea how a singularity can be a portal as it is an infinite dense point in space time. What would make the crucial difference between black holes and wormholes then? rOZZ Music Pictures |

@janne How to Find a Multiverse Theoretical physicist from University of North Carolina Laura Mersini-Houghton reveals how the latest snapshots from the Planck satellite yield evidence for parallel universes. If Albert Einstein had to propose his theories on Youtube instead of the Annalen der Physik nobody would have believed him. He was not a "visible scientist" like Stephen Hawking nor a beautiful woman like Laura Mersini-Houghton. But at least she cited Roger Penrose, who prefers writing books that nobody reads (except me) than appearing on Youtube. Beware of Italian women. After astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, physicist Fabiola Gianotti, next CERN director, now we have this Laura Mersini-Houghton, who seem to be at least partly Italian. Tullio |

who prefers writing books that nobody reads I too read Roger Penrose. He is really the spokesman for Hawking. When Hawking could still utter sounds Roger would "translate" for him during his lectures. I wonder: has Hawking proposed any theories that have been proven ? Do any of these wormhole, portals, leaking black holes and multi-verse theories have the ability to be falsified via experiment. As for the information being destroyed---are we back into semantics and Schrodinger's cat type of speculation. If the information is "still there" but cannot be recovered does it still "exist" or has it been "destroyed". If it is there but no human can read it --what is it's state then. Has it been transformed as with energy which truly cannot be created or destroyed only transformed. |
