I've been having trouble reporting tasks, scheduler contacts keep timing out, and have have had to limit max_tasks_reported to 20 to get them reported,

Claggy

Jst had a look in my log, only a couple of Scheduler requests have timed out in the last 5 hours or so here.

Just had another look at my log, and overnight there were a few more Scheduler timeouts. Luckily most requests are resulting in work.

Well stuck downloads but kicked & now progressing. Why should I end up with no work with a 7-day cache? Was just saying not-requesting-new-tasks. Nothing up with the servers or cricket graph. & why does it always happen when my RAC is at its highest...

I can resolve the domain but not the server boinc2.

No issues here.

Does that box forward to a public DNS & have you tried a lookup on an upstream server?

Interesting - for about an hour I couldn't get in, but by going in via www.berkeley.edu I was able to. That makes me think that one of the DNS servers has become a little confused

Thanks for the info. I can resolve boinc.berkeley.edu but not things in the ssl.berkeley.edu domain. There must be some issues with our corporate external DNS servers.

It looks like the dns for the ssl might be having issues. Could be your upstream is looking at the ssl dns instead of the root berkeley one I suppose.

There's also some discussion of what looks to me like a possible routing problem at Lunatics.

Or perhaps a peering problem - where a backbone carrier will agree to carry the traffic of some ISPs, but not others.

About the time I got all the servers loaded with entries in their "hosts" file, the problem with our corporate DNS servers being able to reach the ssl.berkeley.edu domain cleared.

I can once again resolve things properly with DNS.

Could be some left over infected DNS servers out there pointing people to the wrong places I suppose.
