Please Sir can `we` have a VLAR switch in project pref`s page S@H e AP v505 S@H v7 AP v6 VLAR Other Tasks So that nut cases like me can get lots of them on GPU Coz i dont get any since the NV problem was fixed. |

So that nut cases like me can get lots of them on GPU What do like to do with VLARs on GPU? A checkbox "prefer VLAR for CPU" (enabled by default), which would make the scheduler search for VLARs in case of CPU work request (just like it's searching for non-VLARs in case of GPU work request), would however make sense. |

So that nut cases like me can get lots of them on GPU VLAR + Radeon 4870 working good. VLAR + Nvidia GeForce means troubles. so old radeon graphics cards those are pretty good. |

VLAR + Radeon 4870 working good. Well, depends on your definition of "working good". IIRC from other thread here, the performance on VLARs was pretty poor compared to "normal" tasks. |

Cpu gets VLAR anyway and things may get complicated or awkward server side if a switch was made for them. For GPU i have not seen a VLAR download in a month, Just thinking aloud for a way to get lots of them (or any) a silly thing to do :¬) |

Cpu gets VLAR anyway and things may get complicated or awkward server side if a switch was made for them. Well yes, CPUs get VLARs, but it would be better, if the server specially check if it can send any of those to a CPU before sending something else (in case user accepts MB work). If the next request is for a GPU, more GPU compatible tasks would be available. I also don't think it would be that complicated, the scheduler already checks what the user wants to have, i.e. MB and/or AP and if he accepts other tasks if the prefered ones are not available. VLAR would be just prefered for CPU, if not available other MB (or AP) WUs would be send. |

Hmm, All is not quite well :-( For the last 24hours one of my crunchers has been suffering interminable time-outs. The symptoms are lots of "servers may be off line", failed to connect HTTP errors, and just a general "laziness" on the connection. Uploads are painful on both crunchers, but one reports every so often, but my main one just refuses to do so, resulting in a huge queue to be reported (last connection was about 08:00UTC on the 18th - and its online 24/7, sharing the same router a the other cruncher which connected OK at about 05:00UTC on the 19th). Oh well, off to work and see if clears while I'm out of the house.... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

:( have 0 tasks for cpu and 0 tasks for gpu in BOINC manager and receive the "temp down message" Yeah, I'm running on empty on my Xeon server too. Any GPU jobs get dispatched so quickly I don't see them, and CPU jobs are not being replenished. The frequency of queries to the master database seemed anomalously high (>2000/sec) for a while too. Either something needs a kick, or that network upgrade is becoming more and more urgent. |

Same here, one of my computers is down to zero tasks for ati. It's requesting GPU tasks, but none are comming down. The other has about 11 ati tasks before it to runs out. All three computers are still crunching CPU tasks, and have plenty of work. |

The kitties are floating about even for now. Had 60,000 tasks a couple of weeks ago, now down to about 54k and holding pretty steady. This is spread around 9 rigs, mind you. The kitties shall not run out of kibbles any time soon. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Same here, one of my computers is down to zero tasks for ati. Looks like you got the download slot i had for the last two weeks, I was wondering where it had gone. I don`t want it back thank you very much :¬) It`s a bit like catching a cold, easy come easy go. |

Between shorties and Astropulse, the upload/download/scheduler pipe is maxed out again. My P4 got either "no tasks available" or "project may be down" messages all day Friday 9/21, but just before midnight (PDT) it got lucky and scored 15 MB tasks, so it will be good for a day or so. It's the luck of the draw. As usual with this project, patience is not just a virtue, it's a requirement. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
