Message 1232816 - Posted: 18 May 2012, 16:35:18 UTC

It is that time again. I just started up and running my new computer, but forgot how to and which optimized choice to download from the Lunatics site.
Could someone please talk me through it step by step. This computer is AMD, Windows 7, 3.6 Gigs, with a GTX card 580. I hope I provided all the info needed.
Thank you!

1. Go to the download site.
2. Download the installer for 64-bit or 32-bit.
3. Run an application such as CPUz to determine which apps to choose during installation.
4. Run the installer you downloaded selecting the correct apps for your CPU's and/or GPU's capabilities.

Lunatics_Win64_v40_setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer. That is the message I got from them. Should I do the 32 instead? And how will I chose the CPZ version?

Ignore that warning, it's just that Microsoft doesn't know anything about Setiathome or Lunatics, Use the 64bit version as you have a 64bit OS, you did install the 64bit Boinc didn't you?

Yes I did. While I was watching my tasks run I noticed that my GTX 580 card quit running. Meaning it has many choices to crunch, but it does not. Is there a problem with GTX 580 cards?
Thanks.

I tried to post to the Lunatics forums during the recent outage, and found that "That username does not exist."

My email address is also listed as not known.

Tried to re-register "Sorry, registration is currently disabled."

How do I get back onto the forums ?

Being the computer novice that I am, I checked somehow the wrong place on my GPU, now that is is checked to "use always" it is crunching happily, hopefully ever after. But as I was downloading Lunatics_Win64_v40_setup.exe I never saw the CPZ option.

I downloaded and ran the CPZ, but I do not think I did correctly the lunatics optimized version. Could you or anyone please check if it is installed and operational on my computer.

Thanks.

even though the AMD FX-8150 says it can do the SSE4.1 instruction set, it will not run on SETI. Only use the SSE3 for AMD chips

According to your startup messages you're running anonymous platform at Seti, and since you're downloading Seti Wu's you're got the Cuda app installed O.K,
But until you run some Seti CPU & GPU Wu's we won't know what CPU app you have installed (you should have installed the SSE3_AMD version) and if each app runs O.K,

you'll need to adjust your preferences on your account page for a few things. If you don't want the WU's to stop processing every time you use the PC then set your

Looks like on Einstein CPU I am running SSE2. Should I go back to Lunatics and download SSE3_AMD?

I would reinstall the Lunatics apps and make sure you check off the SSE3_amd and nvidia box as well. The Einstein project WU's use SSE2 it doesn't necessarily mean that is what your pc can only do. The Lunatics apps do not affect Einstein work.

Looks like on Einstein CPU I am running SSE2. Should I go back to Lunatics and download SSE3_AMD?

The AK_v8b2_win_SSE3_AMD.exe app is included in the 0.40 installer, if you didn't select that app, just rerun the installer, and select that app, and the other apps you selected before (Cuda32 & Astropulse apps etc),

Thank you. I noticed that for some reason the elapsed time and the projected additional time will take longer than the previous computer I used, which was 3.2Gig and this is 3.6. Just wondering.

You haven't completed any tasks yet, so Seti doesn't know how fast your CPU or GPU is yet, once you're completed 10 validations of each app things will adjust,
