It has a long way to go before it beats the SETI servers' record in July this year...

Well I agree with that Mike but after running SETI for just over 4yrs and today hitting the 70,000hrs/10,713 WU mark I have to let that slide since they have over 5 million others to deal with.

LHC + my dialup ISP = me staying awake 24/7 just trying to get anything from the server.........and I run 4 pc's here at home just for things like this!

(LHC@home - 2004-11-16 20:50:10 - Deferring communication with project for 1 weeks, 4 days, 12 hours, 8 minutes, and 56 seconds)

I just tried the LHC website and this is the response I got from them.

If I didn't have a WU to return I'd detach now before getting more work from them. It's a tunescana worth about 90 credit so hopefully when it is done in 30 minutes time it will upload and report. Then cya LHC. CPDN and Seti will get all my spare clock cycles until they come back next year.

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

That is exactly what I got Steve.

I did a d/l today and when it finished it would not u/l and when I went to check any LHC link on that site it gave me the same blank page with that "forbidden access"

It seems that if they are still giving us data then they should at least have the server ready to u/l it.

If they are out of work then they should just say so and it only takes one person there to update the page with a simple explanation instead of wasting our time with it.

Reminds me of seti asking for contributions from us that spend thousands of dollars doing this in the first place.

I hope the Einstein project runs better and actually does some good.

If not I can use all my computers to read my email

They're having technical problems with the machine. Yesterday, the web server spontaneously rebooted for no apparent reason. It's a sure thing that the machine is not well.

It takes a functional server to get the point across, bro. Jeeze.

Yes, and a pitiful server not to get that point across

I'm rather hopeful that things will run more smoothly once they get the new servers installed. :)

Yep. I've been in Japan for the last 13 years.

No doubt about it, man! Use it or lose it! :-)

I hope they are not down for good now, I have 60 WU's to upload that I received yesterday from them. I really don't want them just sitting there for the next month or 2 ...

everybody should know it slowly,

the are testing a new semi online stage.

Something like our clients, when they are pausing/preemting.

Some minutes ago, could upload some of the work got yesterday

was in the forum, was reading the server status string "up, out of work",

later, the browser was showing an "empty page".

sorry for redundant entry:

17.11.2004 15:07 UTC
LHC@Home web/file server went unstable.
No data was lost. We are continuing with a single server.
We will keep project down until all data is synchronized.

Well, LHC@Home and Predictor@Home both said that they expected to have issues. I attached a couple back to Predictor@Home and for a week or so, it was an interesting ride. It seems that they are settling down now and working pretty well. Maybe it is time to get all of the farm back on-line.

Personally, I have been waiting for the early adopters to work out the "kinks" with the projects, or, just attaching and letting them settle in.

Heck, Einstein@Home also said the same thing.

Then we had the nastyness of the 4.13 to 4.16 hip-hop because of problems. Fortunately, I have not had that many problems with moving up in generations (though I did have some CPDN WU that had problems with other changes, like when I had to reinstall Windows I seemed ot have lost something ...)
