Has SETI reduced the awarded credit per WU, I ask because I have noticed a 50% drop in my RAC over the last few months. For example on 2 on my PCs (GTX480 with AMD645 Quad core, new in April 2011 and loaded with BOINC and Lunatics Opti-apps), the RAC increased from 0 to arround 7500 by May and stayed there at approx 7500 until mid July when the RAC dropped to 2500 and has slowly crept up to 3700 as of today. The PC's still operated for the approx length of time as they did back in May (approx 12hrs each day) so I can not work out why the RAC has dropped so much. Using Lunatics 0.38 Opti-apps Is the drop in RAC SETI based or because of something I have misconfigured. Thanks |

There have been numerous down times and work fetch issues over the last couple of months. I have noticed little over-all credit changes for work actually done, just trouble getting it and then getting it reported. Janice |

A quick comment, a short time ago I read that one of the factors in the award of credits was the performance of the processor to which the task was assigned. Now if a task is assigned to a CPU, but actually executed on a GPU then the time will be lower than that expected so the estimate at the amount of computing effort will be lower than it should be. Perhaps the folks that are using re-schedulers are doing themselves, and everyone else, a dis-service in terms of credit awarded? 1) astropulses aren't validating at all Plus the "shorty" (VHAR) storm, where Tasks take less time to run, and therefore gain less credit than a mid-range (~0.4 AR) Task. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

The short answer is YES, THEY HAVE. Sometime recently a new credit allocation algoritm was implemented by The Powers That Be (Dr. A.) and the upshot is that (for example) AP WUs that used to get 1294 credits (in the days of the Pending Credit list) now get 500-800 credits, typically. Doesn't really matter, but it is what it is. |

Thanks for the responses. It just seems like every time I alter something to BOINC or add a project I find that there are issues somewhere effecting everything that I was trying to do :-( Anyway, it's the science that is important and I would love to find something in the data I crunch that helps the world understand something a little better. |

Just for the record, the new credit system was implemented in June last year (2010). I think Sean was asking about changes since May/June/July this year (2011), and the answer is: "none that I know of". Any change over that timescale is more likely to be due to the reduced amount of work completed, because of the server and network problems over the last three months. |

I believe we got ~1294 Credits for AP for a while only because New Credit was Not implemented on AP at the time, so everyone got a Bonus, Before that we were getting around 700 to 800 Credits depending what Eric's Credit normanisation script was doing, Claggy |

And i still get between 500 and 1400 credits for them. Sometimes more sometimes less but thats rare. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |
