I have a new computer running Windows 7. I have downloaded BOINC and have attached SETI using the same Email address and password that I have used successfully for several other computers. However, SETI does not run, work done etc. is all listed as zero and the computer is not in the list of my computers. I have tried installing earlier versions of BOINC, checked compatibility etc. without success. I would appreciate any ideas to fix this! |

Can you post the first 20 or 30 messages in your BOINC Manager? Maybe that will give us a clue. Does it give any hint as to contacting SETI? PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

"Messages" are now (BOINC 6.12) found in the BOINC manager event log. ;-) Is there an account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file in your BOINC data directory? (If yes, don't post the content!) Gruß, Gundolf |

Thank you also for your prompt reply. I can see no such file in my BOINC data directory. Yes, now that I could see your log, that's clear: 8/10/2011 8:38:16 PM SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID not assigned yet; Are there any log entries about connecting attempts to the SETI servers? If your new machine just has difficulties to connect to the server, as many other users have currently, you'll just have to wait until the SETI@home server/network problems are solved. You could also copy the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file from one of your other hosts to the new one, but without server connection that doesn't help much, that host still won't appear in your list of computers. There are some threads in the Number crunching (sub)forum about the current connection problems. Gruß, Gundolf |

"you'll just have to wait until the SETI@home server/network problems are solved." You are absolutely right. The matter has just resolved itself and it is now crunching away. Thank you so much for your help and I am sorry for my obvious impatience! |

I am noticing this line
Means that something is using your CPU more than the default for that setting. Please check your computer for viruses or other malware. BOINC WIKI |
