I assume you have the ap_5.06r411_sse_linux32 in your seti@home folder and you have permissions set to 750 on that app ![]() In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

You indeed don't have any SETI@home Enhanced application listed in your app_info.xml (as opposed to an AstroPulse application;-). Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() SETI@home classic workunits 3,758 SETI@home classic CPU time 66,520 hours |

What have I done? I can't tell, that's up to you ;-) However, if the two linux hosts listed under your account are in reality only one, then you have done something between 30 Apr 2011 | 14:04:43 UTC (last contact of 5918376) and 2 May 2011 | 14:09:08 UTC (creation of 5930907). And What do I do? The question is: do you really want to use an app_info.xml? If yes, look for the appropriate SETI@home Enhanced application for your machine and download it. Then append the associated infos to your SETI@home app_info.xml If not, set No New Tasks, finish all tasks, upload and report them, then stop BOINC and delete (rename) the app_info.xml file in your SETI@home project folder. After restarting BOINC, the stock application(s) will be downloaded and run. Gruß, Gundolf |

It looks like you installed the astropulse app and app_info. you'll need to download the Multibeam app and app_info install the app like you did with the astropulse and then just add the multibeam app_info into your current one. ![]() In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Your computer does support SSSE3. http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat3 You might even try out the CUDA option as well. ![]() |

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 I didn't have any problems when I was running 10.10 2 weeks ago. http://www.soundclick.com/Ketobbey http://www.youtube.com/Ketobbey ![]() |

It looks like you installed the astropulse app and app_info. Multibeam app is for if you want to use the GPU is that right? I don't want this computer to use it's GPU. or am I wrong? I don't see how this will help.? I am a Linux NOOB http://www.soundclick.com/Ketobbey http://www.youtube.com/Ketobbey ![]() |

Your computer does support SSSE3. Oh yes it does. It was all working 2 weeks ago before I updated for Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 No matter what I try nothing is working I always get the same error msg. Ubuntu 11.04 has made this happen. I think http://www.soundclick.com/Ketobbey http://www.youtube.com/Ketobbey ![]() |

I have tried all but the multibeam install and nothing works. I can't understand how SETI worked 100% then by upgrading my Ubuntu from 10.10 to this hideous 11.04 thing have almost halted except for Astropulse? http://www.soundclick.com/Ketobbey http://www.youtube.com/Ketobbey ![]() |

It looks like you installed the astropulse app and app_info. MultiBeam is just a type of workunit. There's a CPU MultiBeam app and there's a GPU MultiBeam app. So long as you don't install the GPU MultiBeam app, you don't have to worry about using the computer's GPU. MultiBeam == SETI@Home Enhanced So when the project is telling you that your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of SETI@Home Enhanced, it's because you have told the project you wish to do SETI@Home Enhanced workunits but you do not have a valid app specified in the app_info.xml file. Putting in the MultiBeam CPU app will solve this. |

It looks like you installed the astropulse app and app_info. Ok so I tried all 3 of these. None work. I still get the same error msg over and over. Ok so I tried all 3 of these. None work. I still get the same error msg over and over. Someone else will have to verify if these are correct, but the names do not suggest that they have a MultiBeam app. LX32 = Linux 32bit, AKV8 = Alex Kan v8 (name of the programmer), AP5_SSE? = AstroPulse using SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, etc. Since I don't use Linux, I don't know if they are correct. MY XML READS First problem I noticed is that the is no file extentions. Is this usual for Linux? In the Windows world these would have an "EXE" extention to indicate that they are executable. Do these files have extentions? |

In Linux, file extensions are mostly cosmetic. If the file is marked as executable, when it's launched, the OS looks at the first couple bytes of the file (the "magic numbers") and determines what's necessary to execute whatever is being launched. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_permissions#Traditional_Unix_permissions Also, AK_V8_linux32_sse3 *is* a MB client. |

Even so, doesn't the filename have to match what the name actually is, including extentions? AK_V8_Linux32_sse3 might be an MB client, but is it located in any one of the three packages he listed? And is that the correct filename? |

AK_V8_Linux32_sse3 might be an MB client, but is it located in any one of the three packages he listed? And is that the correct filename? Okay, here's the contents of LX32_AKV8_AP5_SSE3.tar.gz: [orion@anubis(/tmp)] tar -xzf LX32_AKV8_AP5_SSE3.tar.gz [orion@anubis(/tmp)] ls -l LX32_AKV8_AP5_SSE3/Files\ to\ Install/ total 4076 -rwxr-xr-x 1 orion orion 1444364 2008-05-26 11:51 AK_V8_linux32_sse3 -rwxr-xr-x 1 orion orion 2721748 2010-09-05 18:59 ap_5.06r411_sse_linux32 -rw-r--r-- 1 orion orion 726 2010-12-18 18:40 app_info.xml [orion@anubis(/tmp)] So the filenames are correct. Also, the app_info.xml provided in the tarball matches the one posted by Ketobbey (except for the missing newlines, but they are irrelevant) |
