:-)) Youre very welcome, Angela. Its part of Our world - a reminder of
how beautiful this planet really is. I was just lucky enough to be
placed at that spot.. ;-)

I forgot to mention: There are several small, black dots on the pic, that
may look like kind of dust, or something.. ;-) its not. Its tiny insects,
naturally belonging in the total. ;-)

Oh, oh, oh we had some real bad weather, and very high winds, It will hurt too much to take any images of the damage to the grounds. The only good thing is that the truck garden got though without too much trouble. Long Sufferin’ Marie’s peonies, and her monkshoods took terrible hits.

Hip, hip, Hooray! That gladiola that Long Sufferin' Marie put in is just now starting to make flowers, and wouldn't you know it, it is coming up in what she calls the Darwin box in her garden. (Thank you Angela.)
I’ll take pix as it comes along.

Everyone in the family agrees along with me that Long Sufferin' Marie's Glads are the success we were all hoping for.

To keep the glads up I have to put slim shakes under them.

I don't know where you live, but here in northern Alberta we have had a wet warm summer. Most stuff is doing very well, but other things like the peas and lettuce are behind. It has been a great year for flowers for us.

My garden has been a bit weird this year, flowering plants have bloomed early but veg and fruit have been months behind. At the moment on my strawberry plant there's a lot of strawberries starting to grow, and only in the last week have TWO started to go red. Tomatoes are yet to fruit as well. Peas have done OK over the past few months but everyone* keeps eating them before I have a chance to collect enough to make mushy peas or something :).

*including me :)

We are having a colder than usual summer and my garden has been weird too. My zucchini and patty pans are producing well, but my jalipenos and cucumbers are just pouting. I have plenty of cherry tomatoes (at last) but my Early Girls are nothing but leaves and green orbs. I put up a couple of batches of pesto last weekend from my first crop of basil, but my second crop is flowering before truly leafing out well. My beans have been a disappointment this year too.

Same here with the beans. Both Fred and I had the same issue. Everything started well, then boom they died. Now the couple of volunteers in my compost tub are doing well.
One of my bell peppers is not doing anything. Lot's of blooms, bees visit, yet no fruit sets.

But I can live with all that, as we had nice temps. No frying eggs on the sidewalk weather.

I just talked your problem over with Long Sufferin' Marie, and it looks to us like you may have a soil problem. We think an infusion of compost may be the answer. Have you a way to check the Ph level, and have you at any time put any chemicals in there? (Perish the thought.) Do you have any ever-green trees or shrubs growing around the place near the garden? We are not experts, just successful.

No chemicals here. Grown in pots only. Fresh soil, not recycled.
We think it has to do with the weather. One thing I did notice, I havenot seen any Carpenter Bees since spring time. Either their home was one of the many trees we lost this year, or someone killed them.

All fruit an veg is grown in tubs and all the compost is replaced before planting new seeds each year. With the amount of sun we've had this year so far I thought I'd be in fruit and veg heaven by now, the plants just didn't seem to want to do much this year I guess. Here's the spuds I got from a couple of months ago*, got twice as many last year but still delicious :).

*EDIT got half as many spuds actually. This year has been a bit bad for home grown grub.

I grow my plants in 5 gallon buckets. I use new soil each year and I wash and sterilize them with water and clorox. I think it has to do with weather. had a lot of cool nights then had hot weather and still cool nights. I believe tomatos like warm humid nights.
