i had to wait a bit before posting here but finally I HAVE A TALENT (i repeat) I HAVE A TALENT i just knew i couldn't get all the way through life without getting one ! do you all enjoy distributed computing? do you all enjoy playing the odd computer game on your souped up machines? yes i thought so ,and so do i,but since i started this i have had to do a bit of a rethink on the gaming side due to the unique way SETI/BOINC works tirelessly and invisibly in the background of my computer (100% on all cores and my lowly video card) i have had to start playing less video intensive games (lower frame rates, no anti ailiasing ect. you get the picture) you may also know these games as cards, or more specifically in my case FREECELL .anyway beck to the talent------ 85 wins in a row. ps please don't tell me this isn't a talent as it's the only one i've got,i have only recently aquired this TALENT and i don't know how i'd cope. yours JOHN3760 |

PS the only other computer game i can play now is seeing how long i can keep my hand on the top of the case before running to the bathroom screaming and running it under the cold water tap ;D JOHN3760 EDIT -- 4mintes 23.6 seconds in case you're interested |

You could have used the edit function (works for one hour) for your PS ;-) Regarding Freecell: I once wondered if every game could be won and started choosing games starting at number one. Among the first 4400 or so games was only one that I couldn't solve. Sadly, I lost the exact number during a computer upgrade. I won't ever say that winning 85 games isn't a talent ;-), but since those numbers are kept unencrypted in the registry, you'll never be able to prove any record. Gruß, Gundolf |

Really looking forward to how it comes together. Wrote 15 more pages today and yesterday...it's based on living life w/ a disability and how I was raised and such. Basically intended to be inspirational to other families dealing with children w/ disabilities. |

Regarding Freecell: I once wondered if every game could be won and started choosing games starting at number one. Among the first 4400 or so games was only one that I couldn't solve. Sadly, I lost the exact number during a computer upgrade. I tried exactly the same thing some time ago, still have the spreadsheet. Can't get #617, #865, then stopped at #1145. I also have lots of random selections won, 11,769 wins in all. I gave up when the most recent version of the game showed there are now 1,000,000+ playable games. |

apparently they are all solveable.i as you probably realised only posted as a bit of a joke as this seemed to be the only thread with some humour in it . i have only ever played randomly and not chosen games but now i want to have a go at those numbers. thanks.i love a challenge but i'm not building my hopes up so i'll wait till this run ends before i give it a go. john3760 |
