So you assume that what the Bible tries to pass off as a deity is in fact an alien or aliens....

Yep, you got it!!! ET's had the staring role in the bible, that's what Ancient Aliens theory is all about :)

ET's were going around the middle east building pyramids and doing science, then passing it off as miracles and ascending back into the sky where they came from so they could watch what happens!

Well, you have fun chasing your unicorns.

You're chasing one interpretation of a single book that has a strong bias for a single view of history, while other books that are even older (remember, the Holy Bible was written circa 600-800A.D.) have conflicting views of history. You're relying on a single book as a definitive source of historical information, and you're relying on any book written about that same book as research material.

The stories you're trying to make sense through the Ancient Aliens theory were all written hundreds of years after it all supposedly happened. It's no wonder that the stories are miraculous in nature, obscure in time frame, and short on fact.

The only way the Ancient Aliens theory could be true is if you completely ignore all the evidence to the contrary already found around us.

Based upon the theories in this thread, it would seem it has to do with religious zeal rather than science, and certainly nothing to do with ETI.

Ozzfan,
I'm just curious, if you found out in the end that scientists came here from another planet and created your distant ancestors, would you be disappointed? Would you be disappointed if you found out that you didn't evolve?

Is this a forum about ETI or religious bigotry,

C Olival,
Let me just remind you that the science behind this project is looking for "Extraterrestrial Intelligence". If that "Extraterrestrial Intelligence" turns out to be God or scientists that came to earth and created us, then that's what this project is looking for. I've been here a few years now and i don't remember any seti@home project scientists saying they are only looking for aliens, so long as they don't claim to be our creators!

There is no need for name calling! Keep it friendly.

We evolved.

We share thousands of genes with worms and common plant weeds. Boinc activity has acknowledged as much.

Can't be disappointed if you have no expectations. Unlike religious people, I don't "believe" in science through "faith". I accept the most logical conclusions based upon the evidence shown. If science turns out to have been wrong about some theories, I'm more than willing to listen to any new evidence.

Based upon the theories presented, I needn't worry about any of that any time soon.

A recent TV transmission in Italy suggested that fungi (mushrooms) are aliens. They are neither animal, nor vegetal, lacking chlorophyll.

I especially like the the Fungi Pizza at the Piazza de Popolo in Rome. Also, the ones with the yellow peppers are excellent as well.

Back on topic: To me it is quite plausible that spores drifted down to Earth or rode in on a comet or meteorite and started life here. In time DNA may trace this back to be our origin.

I believe in evolution and that all life on our planet is related but the question is how did life 'really' start? The theory is that it came out of a primordial soup. Is that truly a viable answer because as far as I know, scientists can't get that to occur. Since we can't create life from non-life how can we rest on that theory? Because we don't have a better answer. Obviously life had to have started here somehow. I'm not saying I'm fixed on the idea that aliens seeded our planet(there's no proof) but I'm having a hard time understanding how many scientists base their explanation on something that there's no real proof of either-that out of a that concoction came conscious life.We can't duplicate it, how can we prove it?

My swimming pool is a primordial soup of various chemicals when I close it in the fall. I just opened it back up this week and I can assure you it is alive with various forms of algae. These algae are alive and damn hard to kill also.

All it takes is is one seed alga to start the whole mess going.

This original "seed" could have drifted in from anywhere in space.

Viruses may not be technically alive but they can reproduce and mutate. Therefore structures that are precursors to life can behave as if they are bent on survival and reproduction.

In time we will be able to create primitive life from amino acids, ammonia, acetone, etc which are adrift in space. Perhaps we will also be able to trace DNA back from humans to an amoeba of some sort.

In Egypt, dug up in the 1880's is a crypt, and its dated at 2500bc which makes it 4500 years old. But inside that crypt, carved onto a door lintel is a side on view of a helicopter. Who had choppers in 2500bc.
In Africa there are dinosour footprints in a stone platform, gone from clay to brick over millions of years, but alongside those footprints, are footprints of a human.
There are many objects that are not from our society, but obviously derived from machines, mostly leaving ours for dead.
But no matter how or what, one day we had better not be here, or we will not be here at all.
We might be better off looking for a place where we can go, rather than looking for someone already there.
There is a map, drawn in the 1500 times, which shows Antartica without ice. Where was it then and how did it get where it is now, and where did the original map come from, or worse, what shifted the south pole.
What would happen if the planet was actually subject to crustal shift, and how many times has it shifted, and does this mean we start again every 40000 years.
I'm too old to bother, but its interesting.

In Egypt, ... is a crypt, and its dated ... 4500 years old. But inside that crypt, carved onto a door lintel is a side on view of a helicopter. Who had choppers in 2500bc. ...

In the old hieroglyphs of Egyptian writing from that period, there are also intricate symbols that look remarkably like a diagram for our modern day silicon chip transistors.

However, there's one big reality check... Those symbols are also stylised depictions of bushels of wheat. Just as with the "Bible Code", you can find anything you want if you look hard enough through preconceived ideas.

What would happen if the planet was actually subject to crustal shift, and how many times has it shifted, and does this mean we start again every 40000 years.

The major land masses do inexorably drift across the planet a few inches each year. Over very many years, you might expect them to again drift across the poles (any simulations anyone?). It just means that our world changes and we must adapt.

I'm too old to bother, but its interesting.

You should never be too old to be interested and be interesting.

Can you cite references for these anachronisms,. I always thought that a dragonfly looked like a helicopter; I'll bet that a locust in flight does too.

I'd love to see that. Can anyone post a link?

As far as I'm concerned this is just another red herring fishing trip unless someone can produce an artifact clearly not of human manufacture, old or new, or some equally compelling physical evidence.
