By all means, carry on Byron. A bunch of small (and not so small) donations spend just as well as one large donation it is just curious as to why you don't combine a few of them. My guess is you may be donating for some of your teammates probably sending to you via paypal. That's just a guess though. Another guess is you are selling items either through Craig's list or Ebay and sending in the proceeds as you receive them. Again just a guess. Again, whatever the reason, don't let us stop you, it is a much needed and appreciated gesture on your part.

(And it gives us something to speculate about while we wait! :-) )

Exactly. I meant no ill will at all, just wondering what your method was. I wish I had the spare cash flow to donate, and am jealous of yours. Really it's no different than the mob each donating once or twice like this thread accomplished at the beginning.

It keeps the thread going while the rest of us try to find some spare cash to send. A great service Byron.

Francis,
You might want to contact the gift admin as it said. They had a bit of trouble with the acknowledgment program earlier but the donations were getting through. If it is that problem again they will email you about it when they come in if you let them know.

Yes, my kitties checked under their dishes too, Mark. Just sorry it's late in arriving, but I'm sure the project won't mind having it. :-P I don't check the boards very often is all.

Better late than never, eh?
Thanks for joining in.

Really, although we have achieved our largest goals in the purchase of the new servers, the need is ongoing.
Never too late to come to this party.

Waited to see if the card got billed....it did.
I recieved an e-mail from the Gift Administration the following day :

Thank you for your on-line gifts to SETI@Home dated yesterday, November 8, 2010. I was reviewing the gifts made yesterday and noticed that you had made two $20 gifts to SETI. It appears that you may have received an error message on one or both of these gifts.

They offered to credit one of the gifts if it was unintentional. I declined the refund. I also expressed thanks for the vigilance and quick action.

Go ahead and chalk me up for +40$ :D

I dedicate the duplicate 20 to Byron, because he deserves it.

Yes,
Thank You Francis, and all the others who have kept this drive going like some Energizer Bunny from outer space.

And of course, thanks to Uli too, for keeping track of it all.

Many kitty kisses to you all.

My wildest expectations have been far exceeded.

I never thought for a minute that this could come to pass.

I really did not. Past donation performance just did not support my hopes.
And you have all proved me wrong.

What is the old addage? Expect the best, but prepare for the worst.

I was prepared for a blunt refusal of most to participate......
OMG, was I wrong.
You have all delighted me soooooooo much.

And it takes a lot for a 52 year old kittyman to be delighted these days.

Thank you again.

Meow meow meow.

More harddrives, more memory, a new switch or router? There's many things they need but couldn't afford before. I'm sure it will all go to a good purpose.

And I forgot to add thank you to all the people that made this possible. Both the large gifts and the small and even those that could only wish us well.
