I really look forward to hearing that the servers have been specced and ordered.

Well done Mark, You're a kitty hero ! :-))

A little bird told the kitties that Oscar was actually ordered this week. Takes campus purchasing a week or so to process the paperwork and cut the purchase order, and then delivery time from the vendor, etc..

Not sure what the final specs as ordered were decided on.

It will be interesting at the very least. :D

Even the base model would be a monster compared with what they have to work with now......and we already know they are loading it up with RAM no matter what.

Very impressed with the outpouring of support from everyone so far! Keep it up people, and hopefully someday soon we'll be able to look back and remember the Bad 'ol Days when we were plagued with all these hardware issues, and smile knowing we all made a difference and are responsible for having a smooth running project again.

I am a member of public radio, have been for years, so I am quite familiar with these fund drives, and how user supported non-profit causes can be sucessfully funded.

Bravo, Everyone, and Thank You!

Here's my little bit for the cause

Don't have exact numbers, but I would hazard a guess that the new HP servers ran about $20,000.00......give or take.

I ran 3 fundraisers.......we have that much covered.

With the donations still coming in they should be able to add all kinds of new bells and whistles to make these the bestest servers ever in the SETI closet! They will probably use any extra to upgrade and replace parts in the rest of their stable too. This is really great of all the loyal Setizens out there that have made these new servers possible just in the nick of time!
