Morning all. 5,000,000 SETI credits for me today - now where's that awards brochure? I'll have to choose what I want in exchange for my points :)

I would like to see that awards brochure!!!

And, actually, if Seti had just a bit of funding, that would be a fun little bit, now wouldn't it?

I could see just simple little thingys like a little lapel button for a million creds on Seti.......and maybe one with a teeny cubic zirconium for 50 million or so....

I would wear them proudly.

Of course, the coffee cup at 500,000 or so would be a conversation piece too...LOL.

Or the ball point pen at 250,000.

Or the plastic Seti shotglass at 100,000.......by then, you need one.

Hmm, so here's a thought. Obtaining a set number of credits gives you the RIGHT TO BUY said souvenir. Would be a great way of raising additional funds for the project ;)

Mornin Andy. That sounds like a great idea. How do you put into effect?

Time for a poll perhaps, see who would be interested?

It's a little project I wouldn't mind having a hand in helping along :)

That's an interesting approach......

I would have probably bought several such shotglasses.

I'm not even sure who to ask if it would be allowable?

Maybe Eric can comment if Angela points him in the direction of the discussion?

If it's allowable I think the next step would be to have a poll across the forum to see if there would genuinely be an interest in parting with cash to collect tokens of your achievement.

Then there is the logistics of sorting out a company that can deal with worldwide transactions at a reasonable cost.

I'm sure all the above can be overcome if there is the demand.

G'morning kaseychief.......

But all BS aside, wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if Seti could offer such a program? Like the old S&H Greenstamps of old........little dime and nickel kickbacks.
Shows you how old I am....
I think my Dad once got a Huffy bicycle for us kids offa one of them programs.......just for buying gas at the same station for a couple of months.

(LOL...my browser's spellchecker kicks out 'Greenstamps' 'cuz it doesn't know the term....}

Whatever............Andy.......

It was just a rhetorical discussion.

We all know Seti does all they can just to keep the servers alive......relying on kind donations and such...

I was just kinda thinking and wishing.

But wouldn't it be kinda cool, eh?

I could have like, a hundred little lapel pins, all clipped to my lightshade.

I could see it....LOL.

So if someone other than SETI staff ran this and it generated income for SETI that would be a good thing, right?

But how could this fund itself?

And what would the solid connection to Seti be retained?

If some yokel launched a site claiming to do anything for Seit creds..........
LOL.

Slippery slope.

But a bonafide Seti for stamps program would not only be quaint but cute.

How many Greenstamps did you have to collect for a buck's worth of gas, anyway.......
I remember licking them right side.......LOL.....

Oh, that's another joke......politically incorrect.

The one about how Obama postage stamps won't stick.

PM me and I'll send that one to you, but I am sure you can guess the punch line.
