I am running sunmicro's virtualbox on an intel mac. In virtualbox I am running ubuntu 9.1.0 Everything appears to to be loaded correctly, a job from seti@ and Milkyway@ are in the cue. There shows hours of runtime under messages, however under tasks, it says 0.000% complete on the two jobs. Any help appreciated. Mark |

virtual machines are a bad idea. the act of creating the virtual box slows down BOINC. You are better off just running BOINC on the MAc without a virtual box. It saves a lot of wasted CPU cycles. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I have created a Solaris virtual machine by VirtualBox on my Linux box just as an exercise. Then I loaded the BOINC client and the SETI app by Dotsch on it. It ran just 4 times slower than on Linux using one of the two cores of my Opteron 1210. The other 4 BOINC projects I am running shared the other core by alternating on it, only AQUA@home used all of it until it ended. So I just renounced. Tullio |
