Got my tix for the Canada GP this morning, will be at the hairpin (turn 10). Hopefully my camera battery won't die before the race starts this time around.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Only eighteen days into 2010 but already five teams have announced their launchdates with four of them due before the end of the month.

Ferrari is scheduled to be the first team to unveil its 2010 contender, the Maranello outfit launching the 281 on January 28. Thereafter, McLaren launches the MP4-25 on January 29 with Sauber and Renault both taking the covers off their cars on January 31 the day before the first official test of the year.

This week Ferrari held its traditional pre-season media get together in the Dolomites with Fernando Alonso making his first public appearance in the Scuderia colours.

While Fernando, Felipe and the boys were arriving in Madonna di Campiglio however, our very own Chris Sylt was meeting up with Bernie Ecclestone in London, and rest assured there will be some very interesting stories coming out of that little tete a tete over the coming weeks. We can't say much, but rest assured not only will you be interested in hearing what Bernie has to say you'll be intrigued to hear the thoughts of the other person at the get together… and it wasn't Max Mosley.

Talking of Chris Sylt, he has two interesting stories on the site this week, one relates to the amount of money the manufacturers have pumped into the sport in recent years while the other looks at who might be willing to buy F1 from CVC should it decide to sell up.

While it is another couple of weeks before the majority of the teams take to the track in Valencia, this week Michael Schumacher has been in action at Jerez, the German doing some development work on the 2011 GP2 car. The good news is that there have been no further problems with his neck, not that we expected any.

Finally, while April 1 is some time away, we cannot help but feel that Bernie had his tongue very firmly in his cheek when earlier this week he suggested that circuits feature special shortcuts in order to facilitate overtaking. Because if he was being serious…

Michael Schumacher is also back.

Yes and he went to the Ferrari booth for a plate of spaghetti, olio, aglio e peperoncino without even being invited.

No. Maria Teresa De Filippis in the Fifties and Lella Lombardi in the Seventies have already raced.

Thank you Tullio for your comment/research....!
I did not know that and I bet the rest didn´t know it either....
I will modify my question as follows:
Will she become the first woman scoring at least 1 point in F-1 history?
As far as I could research (Wikipedia), Maria Teresa De Filippis could not score any point and Lella Lombardi only 0.5 points....!!!
Congratulations to italian women, they seem to have a very competitive character..
But, one question: is it still possible nowhadays to score only 0.5 points?
Maybe Lella Lombardi had to share her point with someone else?
The only way I can explain her scoring is in case she got some kind of penalty for irregular, prohibited driving, or as said before, she had to share it with someone else arriving at the same time to the finish line.
Auguri.

I would have to read the current regs. They change so often now days. But a half point is possible when a race is canceled due to weather before the completion of... a certain percentage of laps. I don't recall the number. At lease that's been the rule for the last few years.

Oh and I think she could have a shot. I've seen her drive. She has what it takes. Well most of it. She still does not have a ride. Or do you guys know something I don't.

I know she will be driving her full Indy schedule,
and she drove her first stock car (ARCA) race at Daytona on Saturday--
and will drive her first NASCAR race at Daytona this coming Saturday...

Webber, Rosburg and Truli all got half a point last season in one race that was ended early. I think this was in Malaysia, where they got rained out.

We have girls piloting jet fighters and helicopters also in war zones. Italian women are very competitive and one must not judge them by what can be see of them in television. I have a daughter doing process control for firms in France and UK while tending to two kids.

We are getting a little off "track", but I know what you mean. I dated a fighter pilot for a while. She was very much a lady.

Force India finished the 2009 season as a genuine regular contender for points and its new 2010 challenger, the VJM03, builds on the solid foundations established by its predecessor, which took pole for the Belgian GP.

"Our goal is to continue on the same path of performance improvement that we had at the end of 2009," says chairman and team principal Dr Vijay Mallya. "I don't think I am being over-proud when I say 2009 was an exceptional year for us. The bare statistics say it all: one podium, one pole position, one fastest lap, a further five top 10 starts and 13 points. We've learnt from our experiences and we've come out a better team: resilient, resourceful and now resurgent. I hope 2010 will see this great progress carrying forward. We've got one podium so far but I would hope that, this time next year, I'm talking about more points and more podiums. I'm confident we can get this, why not aim high?"

While the VJM03 is an evolution of last year's car, it incorporates the package of rules changes introduced for this year, including the requirement for a larger fuel tank as a result of the refuelling ban and a switch to narrower front tyres.

I used to work for the AE group, which was bought by T&N and subsequently trashed by Federal Mogul - I still consider myself, an engineer. I was also sufficiently numerate, to see that Federal Mogul only wanted to purchse T&N, because Federal Mogul were in trouble and needed a 'profit maker'. My speciality at T&N, was being responsible for all the processes in place for every type of material produced at the facility in which I worked (I wrote the processes, based on previous experience with the Staveley Group). I was also responsible for cost savings in excess of £100k per annum on the largest furnace of its type, in the World, with improvements to material quality! Some of my work has been the subject of 'papers' presented to seminars pertaining to Automotive Component Engineering. In spite of this (and more radical proposals) I'd be very surprised if, even my surname is known to a 'certain clique' in Automotive Engineeing!!!
