I just installed ubuntu on an old laptop and am running SETI and Einstein. The problem, no matter how much I change the power settings to tell the computer to stay on always, the computer still shuts off at some point. Any ideas? |

Probably it gets too hot from constant usage at 100% and does an emergency shutdown. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() SETI@home classic workunits 3,758 SETI@home classic CPU time 66,520 hours |

Probably it gets too hot from constant usage at 100% and does an emergency shutdown. Fair idea. Is it full of dust? Air vents blocked? Have you checked for the power-save features for both the "screensaver" and the "general" powersave (power scheme) settings? It may just be powering down due to no detected user activity.
