Apology accepted Mark. Simple and sweet fixes were never meant for you Mark. It's always gotta be the hard way!

Ya gotta understand..........

When you run all your rigs balls to the wall, there are not always simple sweet solutions..........

And yes, I did try backing off the OC before all of the previous scenarios...........

Luv ya, Dude..

Yes Mark, I undestand - that the PCIe speed isn't your prob.. ;-)

But Fred, higher PCIe speed will give you more stable OC?
That's new for me.

I have not the knowledge like Mark and you about OC.
There I'm more like a child in the 'Kindergarten'.. ;-)
Please could you explain why the higher PCIe speed will give you more stable OC?

Thanks! :-)

Ahh.. BTW. ..
Mark, don't give your cats too much tuna.. ;-) tuna is nearly extinct..

I've got 2 gpus both 9400 gt crunching seti mb... and occasionally my 260 crunches seti...

but, Einstein is almost their with gpu app.. milkyway is in testing and minimum requirement is 1.3(DP) compute camptablity which takes the 9400 out of the game for milky..

Plan A: let 1 card crunch Seti and the other crunch Einstein.

Plan B(not the pill): attach Einstein to both pc's and get a mix of gpu and cpu on both unless i figure out a way to not let E@H use cpu on those p4s.

but lets return to the main topic....

Hey my friend..

I hope you stay in here in this nice project - so long like your CPUs and now GPUs also - will endure the 24/7 'burn in test'.. ;-)

Here are much people around [like me.. ;-D] ..which will support this project the whole life.. (hmm.. O.K., it depend because of the money and place for electricity bill and separeted room.. yes, the/a GPU cruncher isn't something for 'quiet-loving computer friends')..
(Current ~ 0.7 kWh for my GPU cruncher isn't small, ~ 4.- € - ~ 5.70 US$/day)

5.70 for 4 gtx 260s, isn't bad......

well, if i had the money and space.... i would build a solar panel array for myself and it would offset future costs to crunching....

i think we U.S. Citizens(and other nation citizens) needs a bigger voice in congress, say a boinc/grid computing discount come tax season?????

[for the 'knowing' people..]

I have already supported this project for a good portion of my whole life.

Over 9 years.
At what cost, you say?
Aside from the societal expatriation and the loss of a few friends due to lack of understanding.......
Lesse........misc. computer parts and psus......about $20,000
And the power to run them 24/7 conservatively figured at $250.00/month (and that IS a low end figure)250 x 12 for 9 years.....$27,000.00

So NOBODY better try and tell me I don't have the right to bitch about things once in a while.

GOT THAT???????

msattler,

Try removing all but ONE stick of memory (hopefully it's 2GB or less). I've seen issues with video drivers (and even RAID controller drivers) not loading because of memory address conflicts. These things get especially hairy with x86_64. It's really a firmware BUG, but if it can at least isolate the issue, that's good right?

I doubt it, but I could try it tomorrow morning.....
Nothing else works, so why not?
The 920 rig has 2 x 1gb, so yanking a stick won't be a problem.
Ya just never know. Thanks for the suggestion.

Because when I built the rig, I wanted to reuse the 2 channel kit I had left over from the Frozen Penny......
I could upgrade to a tri-kitty kit, but I am not sure the increase in performance would be worth the investment.
Might see what is available and upgrade the Frozen Nehi 965 and hand down the tri-kitty to the 920 rig.
But the Frozen Nehi is running right tight at the moment.....ram is at 2014Mhz with 9-9-9-27 1T timings.....
I am not sure if there is much ram available that will beat that right now, but I haven't looked in a while.

Just took a look on the Neweggy.......

Nothing faster than 2000Mhz....although there is a G.SKILL kit that claims 8-8-8-21 timings at that speed.
Not very expensive, but I dunno if it would net much more performance than what I have right now with 9-9-9-27 timings.

Oh crap.......

Another power glitch...

You can't imagine the pandemonium when 8 rigs all try to reboot at the same time.

I don't appear to have lost any crunchers, save the one that failed last night......

I hope a new PSU will make that one right again.
