World Cup Football. Semi final Sweden vs Netherland. Darn. We lost... Funny though that I saw that match together with a guy from the Netherlands by accident. So now the Netherlands have only to beat the USA... Personally I will go for the Orange team:) |

The island Stromboli volcano has erupted, killing one hiker probably by toxic gases. 98 tourists have left the island but none of its dwellers. It is amazing how people adapt to live on a live volcano. Also Etna is erupting, but more peacefully. Tullio |

I've read that Anna Magnani was to be the actress in "Stromboli" by Roberto Rossellini, but he switched to Ingrid Bergman. Magnani then made a film on another island (Vulcano) directed by William Dieterle. It was the battle of the volcanoes. Tullio |

It was the battle of the volcanoes.For all I know it was a big scandal back then in the 60's portraying Bergman and Rossellini in the movie Stromboli. Maybe we should ask Isabella Rossellini . She actually have the same humour as her mother:) |

And we're off! Racing at the 2019 Tour is underway. Starting in Brussels, Belgium, where Eddy Merckx won his first Tour de France 50 years ago. The race also celebrates the 100th year of the iconic maillot jaune, which Merckx wore for a total of 96 days, more than any other rider in history. Defending champion Geraint Thomas returns. |

Si. Not so much news coverage though... Kasia Niewiadoma (Poland) in the lead after 1'st TTT stage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv-sdTOw5cs Why oh why does one of the most beautiful multi-day stage-races for women still takes place simultaneously with the most prestigious men’s race on the agenda? On the day that the Tour de France sets off in Brussels the women in the Giro Rosa tackle the Colle del Lys early on. The first 6 kilometres slope at 6.6% before the climb levels out for a while, only to bounce back to almost 6% in the last 2 kilometres. The Lys is crested at kilometre 18. |
