Oh. Innerhofer just said he is very disappointed that the race started when the weather conditions and visibility was so bad. "It was like skiing a night race". Many other say the same thing. Well. Other skiers didn't think that was really a problem. And Kjetil Jansrud skied with a broken hand... |

It was probably the last combined event in the alpine World Championship. The idea with the event is of course to appreciate the best all-round skiers. But they are so very few and as far I can remember from all these years only perhaps 2 or 3 of the skiers on a tour are that. Alexis Pinturault is one of those this year. Oops. He has a Norwegian mother. That helps:) |

Shriffin said after the first run that she was confused by the snow condition and didn't know how aggressive she could be. She also in the second run trying harder had some flashbacks from another competion with the same conditions in Semmering where Vlhova also won... Well she got a Bronze anyway. |

Petra is skiing with longer skis than her competitors. I has always used long skis, up 2.15 of a Rossignol metal ski pair and 2.10 of a Kneissl plastic pair I still have. My cross country Karrhu skis were 2 meters long. Tullio |

Petra is about 10 cm taller then her competitors so most likely her skis are also 10 cm longer. I don't think that would gave her any advantage to the others. It's actually a science to choose the right ski to a skier and it depends on many other factors as well like the skiers weight... |

Oh. Sofia Goggia doesn't like the winter weather in Sweden. LOL. Who does? Sofia even said "We went from one extreme weather to another. Such does not exist in Italy. The weather is unpredictable. You can't go from minus 30 to plus six in a week". Hehe:) |

The phoen (Favonius) is blowing down the Alps and gives us in the Po valley an early spring. Tullio |

The phoen (Favonius) is blowing down the Alps and gives us in the Po valley an early spring. It's called Föhn in Swedish. Yes. It can also ruin weeks of preparation of a race piste within just a few days. Anyway. Henrik Kristoffersen said "At last" today. And Marcel Hirscher said "Second place, first loser, but Henrik had a fantastic day with perfect skiing, so hats off" :) |

Speaking of winter weather and skiing that obviously need snow. Just watching cross-country skiing from Cogne, Valle d’Aosta. It's only february and hardly any snow at all on the hills... But now over to Åre for the inspection of the slalom track before the second run:) |

Today it was second place, first loser to Anna Swenn Larson and a fantastic day with perfect skiing, so hats off to Mikaela Schriffin. |

Tullio. I see that you have corrected Anna's name. Funny that I spelled her name wrong as well. Correct name is apparently Anna Swenn-Larsson. I have the same problem with Norwegian names like Aksel Lund Svindal. How do you distinct surnames from personal names? Then of course Mikaela's surname is of course Shiffrin not Schriffin like I typed:) |

She had difficulty breathing without coughing and vomiting during the day. But Mikaela Shiffrin became historically the first alpine skier to win four straight gold in one and the same discipline. - Halfway down the field it was like the air was running out, says the American after the slalom win in an emotional interview with SVT Sport. https://www.svt.se/sport/alpint/mikaela-shiffrin-var-som-att-luften-tog-slut |

Petra's coach is the Italian Livio Magoni, the brother of former skier Paoletta Magoni. He was offered a contract by Mikaela Shriffin but refused to train the Italian female team. Then they put him off because of his training methods, maybe too hard for some of the Italian girls. So he is coaching Petra, on a shoestring budget, because the Slovak ski Federation has little money. Petra is a kind of Bode Miller, sleeping often in a small bus. Tullio |
