Geraint Thomas is back on his bike and training again for the Tour de France.
That was a quick recovery:)

Egan Bernal is still leading the Tour de Suisse with one mountain stage to go. He is followed by Rohan Dennis of Australia.

Egan Bernal wins the Tour de Suisse and Rohan Dennis second.
Bernal is also the best young rider.
"I don't know [about the Tour de France]. I don't choose to say that I'm the favourite. In any case, I will go with G [Geraint Thomas] – he will be our leader. I will try to help him. If he's better than me, for sure I will help him. I don't have any problems to help him; I'm just 22 years old so I think that I have a lot of Tours in front of me." he said after the race.

Tomorrow, the announcement will be made whether it will be Sweden or Italy that will arrange the Olympics in 2026, and it is expected that a message will be made at 18.00 after representatives from the two countries have said the last before a vote. But now the International Olympic Committee calls for a press conference already at 08.00, to "announce something big".
The call for a press conference comes unexpectedly, a theory circulating is that both countries will receive the Olympics .
Hehe:)

Will the Nordic ski go to Sweden and the Alpine ski to Italy? It would not be illogical.

No. The whole thing was a publicity stunt:)
The announcement this morning was this.
Thank you for your interest here early in the morning, normally I don't even talk to my wife at this time so you understand it's something important to announce.
We have a new sponsorship agreement with Coca Cola from 2021 to 2032, which is a unique long agreement, said the IOC manager Thomas Bach shortly after 08.00 hours with great seriousness. A milk producer in China is also included in the agreement.
At six o'clock we will know who will get the game. Italy OR Sweden:)

It's a long way to Bormio from Milano and the train stops at Tirano, which is the starting point of the Swiss Bernina Express. The Mayor of Bormio would like to see the train arriving in Bormio. Same for Cortina, where the train line has been transformed in a bycicle road. There used to be a landing strip in Cortina, but it cannot get big airliners. The highway is congested, there is no autostrada to Cortina. So communication is the biggest problem for the Italian candidacy.

Olympics 2026 assigned to Italy. Sorry I won't be in Cortina, which I prefer to Bormio. We used to descend to Cortina from Misurina in September, when the crowds were gone and drink wine with the "Scoiattoli", the Cortina rock climbers. I fell on the ice on top of the Tofana II and was medicated freely in the Cortina hospital.

Complimenti Italy:)
A better choice than Sweden that hardly doesn't have any snow anymore, especially Stockholm.
Cross country and alpine skiing without snow. How funny is that?

Male Alpine races will be run in Bormio on the Stelvio trail which Kristian Ghedina from Cortina says it is at the level of Birds of Prey, Colorado, and Wengen , Switzerland, inferior only to Kitzbuehel. Female Alpine races will be in Cortina, with joy of Lindsey Vonn who won there three times. Cross country races will be in Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, where the Marcialonga is run, and also jumping. Kristian says that going from Cortina to Bormio will be a problem, you have to ride over the Stelvio pass, not always open in winter. The opening ceremony will be in the Meazza soccer stadium in Milan, which Inter and Milan want to destroy while building a new stadium like that of Juventus, but Milano Mayor Sala says it is needed.

I forgot to mention Biathlon at Rasun/Anterselva, home of Dorothea Wiever. But will she take part?

One theory why Italy got the games is perhaps that the delegates of the IOC didn't trust our concept that you can hold olympic games without tax payers money.
It was meant it would be financed privately by the business sector and through IOC revenues (sponsors and TV rights).
In order to show the willingness of the business sector to pay, agreements were signed with Swedish companies - so-called letters of intent.
The delegates seemed to have difficulty evaluating the credibility of those Swedish letters of intent though.
And Italy have gotten government guarantees...

Ah Dorothea:)
I don't think she will part. After all she is now apparently 29 years "old".
Maybe in Beijing 2022 though.

Here the remains of the Morandi bridge in Genoa are blown up.
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/har-sprangs-morandi-bron-i-genua
It was after a heavy rain in August last year that parts of the 1.2 kilometer long bridge in northwestern Italy collapsed. Cars traveling on the road fell 45 meters and buildings were crushed by the falling parts from the 200-meter-long destroyed bridge stretch. A total of forty-three people died in the accident .

Each mountain valley has its own language There are places like Sappada and Sauris where people still speak an old German from the Middle Ages, where German people crossed the mountain passes with their herds and settled in the higher part of the valleys during a warm period, like the Walser people around Monte Rosa. Anterselva is not a Ladino Valley like Fassa, Gardena and Badia so I don't think Dorothea speaks Ladino. If you were born in Alto Adige/Sudtirol your parents have to declare the ethnic group to wchich you belong, Italian, German or Ladino. Your school language will follow this choice.

Yes. The European Alps are very extraordinary.
Even people living in the countries doesn't understand all the languages speaking there.
And every language are mixed latin and germanic...
But it's not Ladino.
Takes some times to understand it though:)

Il problema e' che anche se hai una bella foto non puoi scaricarla qui. Devi prima metterla in un database, che una volta era gratis e poi ha cominciato a chiedere soldi, per cui ho rinunciato.
