It looks just like what I'm having too. The messages show you have Internet access, so most likely it's not a problem on your end. The uploads will work themselves out. Not to worry.

I think things are starting to ease up at S@H. I finally got my uploads across.

I have managed to upload about 130 in the past 12 hours; only about 350 left in the transfer tab to upload (plus those it crunches while trying to reduce the queue). The all-powerful Boinc will sort it out (eventually...).

The issue I object to is that if you have X to upload, you are not allowed to download.

Yet you cannot upload.....

So my machines will run out of work with many to upload and cannot download....

Does not make sense to me.

That is really a "protection mechanism" not something designed to annoy the user. IT throttles outgoing work so that the problem does not reach critical mass.
When You think about it at this point you have a 150000+ thousand computers and over a Million uploads all trying to beat on Bruno at the same time. The server status page shows:
Results out in the field 4,352,040 57,729
If we assume that not everyone has a ten day cache. the very conservative estimate would then be roughly 50% of the 4.2 million results are all trying to come home. So we are asking Bruno to handle 2.1 million requests with a file attached for transfer within the 3 hour retry mechanism. Then we add cuda...

So Bruno has been tuned for connections in normall operation plus a bit of overhead. This handles normal and extended outages fairly nicely . Normally catches up within 24 hours. Now as we have various problems causing the proportion of results attempting to return to be thrown out of balance. Bruno only has so many resources available and the current state the extra attempted connections are causing issues with dropping connections and partially completed uploads.

What can "I" do to help with the issue?
If you have a Backup project, it should be running. Let the "retry" mechanism do its thing.

Those that have large caches can disable Network Activity which allows fewer requests to hit Bruno at the same time.

Realistically, if everyone reading this disabled Network Access for even an hour it would help. Those with Hunderds of Results attempting to upload, disable it for 2 hours. Then go into a 30 minutes on and 2 hours off over the course of the day.

Mostly we can be Patient.

Regards

Update:
After having Network Activity disabled over night (I am set for 3/4 a Day connect), I had some backup projects that needed to upload and get some more work. As soon as I enabled Network Activity. There was a flurry of of upload attempts. Several Got Through and the rest went back into a rety wait. I had one machine that managed to trim uploads to the point where it actually got a couple of Workunits. Progress

I am back to Network Activity Suspended on backup projects.

For those that have Disabled Network Activity, Thank You.

As I said, you can Disable for a couple of hours and then enable for a shjort times and let it work. For everyone that does this, it helps to clear the backlog.

Regards

Edit: The Cricket Graphs are showing an improvement in Uploads as the Downloads have decreased. The number of Results in the field is showing that more people are getting work in both MB and AP.

Results out in the field 4,353,016 57,025

Thanks. Happy to do that and it seemed to help with mine. All up to date now.

I'm pretty new to SETI/BOINC, so just in case anybody else doesn't know how to "Disable Network Activity" (I didn't.) here is where it was:

BOINC Manager > Advanced View > Activity > Network Activity Suspended

I would like to help if i can but not sure how to do it and then how to enable it again. I just thought first it meant going of the internet for a couple of hours "haha" (sorry just laughing at myself)

Update:
As I got back from going to town with the wife, I looked at Servers Status and the Cricket Graphs

Results out in the field 4,295,144 56,333
Results received in last hour 105,661 395 MB and AP

The Cricket Graphs show that the download servers may have been throttled back for a bit and Uploads Jumped

Those that have 20 or less uploads pending probably do not need to worry about disabling Network Activity... The retry mechanism was designed for your machines, just let it do its job.

I don't know what caused it, but everything seems to be working again. My 100+ uploads have disappeared and slowly the points come in.
Thanks guys, for fixing whatever was wrong.
This proves the fact that a nice buffer is always useful. I have one which is filled for 10 days and I did not ran out of work.
