I am curious what SSE version my processor is? In the 'Messages' of Boinc is shows 'Processor Features' and shows: Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx Yet, when I look on the net I find it is higher than the sse2? I am just looking for some clarification so I know what optimized app version to install. I have 2 computers and was curious if anyone knew: 1)Intel Core2 Duo T5250 @1.50GHz 2)Intel Pentium D 960 @ 3.60GHz Thank you!!! |

Download and run CPUID from here and run it. It will tell you everything you want or need to know about your CPU. |

I am curious what SSE version my processor is? In the 'Messages' of Boinc is shows 'Processor Features' and shows: Thanks! I have used that program before but did not even think that it could help. Anyway, the Core 2 shows a max of SSSE3 and the Pentium D of SSE3. |

Boinc can only report what the operating system tells it about. The OS only can detect and report the CPU features that existed when it was released. Software may still use the more advance capabilities even if the OS itself doesn't know about it. Seti only takes advantage of the lower common denominator features and generic optimizations for simplicity of use of the software. The third party optimized Seti application gets most of its extra speed but compiling applications that targets the use of specific, more advanced CPU features which is why they provide individual applications for each type of CPU capability. This also requires that the user be more hands on and keep abreast of updates in the software and the project. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |
