request new tasks dont work. I do still have 2 units running, but dont know if that is why.
Also when go and look at my credits, its says: Status "completed, waiting for validation and that was the 21st of may and still pending. Is this all normal?
I only have one project running and thats seti@home.

Everything looks fine. It looks like you might have your cache set very low. Check you preferences and make sure you have at least 1 day cache set

Waiting for validation means exactly that. Work Units (WU) are sent to two computers to be crunched. The two results have to be returned and be closely similar for credits to be issued. Some people have slow computers or several projects so they take longer complete the work and send in their results. If the results are not close enough or if one user has a bad result, the WU is sent to another user until validation is achieved or the maximum number of replication or errors is reached.

I can't explain exactly why you don't have more work on hand. There are many variables. Boinc may still be learning how fast your computer does the work, how much it is on and allowed to crunch. Boinc is usually very good at maintaining enough work so that you don’t become idle.

on your preference page check your computing preferences
Under "network usage" you'll need to find the "Maintain enough work for an additional " and you fill in the blank with a number greater than 1 and less than 10 and you should get more work
Also check your "Computer is connected to the Internet about every" change that to 2 or 3 and you should also receive more work

Thank you, i found what you told me to do and changed it. After that it said i have to update or wait till i reconnect to seti@home. I think i'm connected because its still working a unit but dont know how to do that update. No new work came in after asking or pressing the button that sends work that has finneshed and get new work in. Sorry for not knowing much (i used to work with the old seti program and that was easy) but i'm sure when i know how to get more work i'll do a real good job

Skildude, at least one of the WUs he's working on is a VLAR. I'd bet the second one is too. He did one before that took him 41,000+ seconds to complete. That could be what it's waiting for.

yes you'll have pending work because your work is waiting on a wingman(woman) to complete and confirm your results. When that happens you'll get your credit

How long does it normally take to get your work confirmed? I ask because at least one of my completed tasks has also been assigned to a user with a single computer who has in excess of 80 tasks in process and many with computing errors.

It all depends on the wingman and their computer. If they have a slow computer with cache set high then you may be waiting a while. same thing goes with a fast PC with thousands of WU's onboard. I've got several WU's still pending since April

Should your wingman error out, not return his result by due date, or not validate, an extra copy is sent out to a third computer or a fourth if necessary. Credits are not issued until and unless the result can been validated against someone else result.

The amount of time it takes can be anything from immediately, if your the second one to report a good result, to months in a few rare cases involving Astropulse WU. It depends on the luck of the wingman draw and how many times work needs to be reissued.

Here is a question for you I have 2 computers running SETI several times over the past couple of months there have been work unit issues on 1 of my computers i.e. no work. But I'm still getting work units on my laptop running the same version. Any ideas on what I need to do to correct this thanks Eric

You can't do anything at the moment but being patient. SETI has trouble generating enough work for us all. See also the Technical News.
