Edit : also under Seti preferences your resource share will affect how many wu's you get if you run multiple projects Regards to all, from: A. Boinc User |

I understand how that would set some vague maximum number, but not the minimum. There really should be a better way to control this. On my system CPDN takes 45 min to 2 hr per WU Seti takes 5 hr to 12 hr It depends what other software happens to be running at the same time. Considering how much down time there is on the various projects, I would really like to control more directly how many WU I get from each projects. There should also be a way to get extra WU when we know the site is going down. |

I couldn't agree more. The "Connect to network about every" should be a project preference setting not a general preference. I know I and many others have requested this and if we keep asking for it we may get it in the future. Regards to all, from: A. Boinc User |

Part of the issues with this is the fact that the various projects may not have work available. So, for example, yesterday I was about out of work to do for LHC@Home, AND I was having trouble getting work to do for that project. This morning I look and there is finally some work from LHC@Home on my machines. If, for example, you tried a setting that was too restrictive you might run out of work completely if you have made settings that are too difficult to fulfill. I grant you, it would be nice to have finer control over the work settings, but it can be a double edged sword. A quick peek at the new GUI comming down the pike it looked to me like the developer are going to be givving us some of the features we have been asking for ... <p> For BOINC Documentation: Click Me! ![]() |
