That's pretty cold for BC! I guess you can't grow bananas in your backyard, like they do in Victoria?

Makes SW Ontario look semi-tropical in comparison:

LOL
The coast and south/west corner of the province is almost a seperate country.
The rest of the province gets real winters just like the rest of Canada.

As a proud resident of that separate country I can only say “Yup!”

Today in Vancouver:

6C
Winds SSW at about 5 knots
Visibility: Unlimited under clear skies.

Bring on the bananas!

In other words, pretty close to perfect for Canada in the middle of winter.
Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.

That might not be a bad thing. If California were a nation is would be the 7th largest economy in the world. But then we would have to worry about illegal immigrants from Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona.

Oh, it's cold and raining here.

Message 866195 - Posted: 16 Feb 2009, 19:03:36 UTC - in response to Message 866168.

Having lived in California and BC, I can say there is a strong similarity in the ways these regions stand apart from the rest of their parent country. I've been told that this is because of the general historical trend in North America for dissidents/non-conformers/radical thinkers to migrate west, away from the "old ways". The Pacific Ocean stopped this, and they've been slowly building up there for years.

Makes me wonder, where do these people go next? Another reason to start moving off the planet, perhaps.

Anybody out there that got fed up with the old fools in BC or California? Where did you / do you want to move to?

New South Wales, Australia:
Cold, wet, miserable.

The town of Bellingen is now cut off by rising flood water.
For Heaven's sake, can we please roll out a hose to pump it to our Victorian Brothers and Sisters, down South? Those poor bludgers actually NEED this much rain!

The weather has stopped doing anything here - at all. It's the same temperature day and night at the moment, no breeze, no rain, no nothing really.

It's increasingly crappy here with the sultry high at 35. Thursday we should reach a high of muggy 20. Too cold to even try and align my telescope, with the fear of a wild bear falling in love with the tube assembly and dragging it off into the woods.

No need for solar mirrors, we just need to increase the atmospheric CO2 level to get back to a reasonable temperature. I'll go start both cars, and then burn some garbage. Come on people, we can beat this winter thing!

It’s pushing 11 PM here in NH and its 20°F. I don't know what the windchill is but I never gave it much weight since windchill only applies if you are naked. And I rarely run around outside naked in the middle of winter. Of course given the enough incentive I game for anything. There were a few high thin clouds in the sky before it got too dark to see the sky (although I suspect they're still there). It’s been 3 weeks without any new snow but that is supposed to change tomorrow.

Once again, London and Pittsburgh have very similar weather. Rain late yesterday got rid of a lot of snow. Turned to snow overnight, wind picked up, and right now it looks like a minor blizzard outside: blowing snow, snow squalls off the lake, and frigging COLD.

And by the way, wind chill applies to all exposed skin, like noses, cheeks, and fingers. I agree though, you have to run around naked to really appreciate it. (Or so I've been told.)
