No, I am not comparing running SETI like myspace. BUT putting up a line of text PER day IS AS EASY AS A 10 YEAR OLD UPDATING HIS MYSPACE PAGE ! IT TAKES 5 MIN. Why cant we be kept updated on server status so we don't spend hours trouble shooting our computers when thats not the problem ?

OK, I'm not going to keep arguing this point. Sure, I'll agree that they should update the front page more often.

However, this is a SETI problem. Not a BOINC problem. So again, why do you hate BOINC and what is so hard about it? Or are you forgetting that BOINC is not SETI, nor is BOINC the upgrade to SETI? And how would getting rid of BOINC and going back to a standalone client solve the lack of information on the front page?

BTW: Screen savers are totally obsolete in the first place when talking about screen burn, that has not been an issue in 10 years. The old graphics WERE cool to look at for no other reason. It was FUN to watch, now I want to throw up at the swinging graphic. Why not an option to keep it steady for those like me who don't want to get sea sick ?

1. Some companies still run older monitors that suffer from screen burn, and some IT departments do run SETI on their computers. You have to keep perspective of the lowest common denominator. They don't want screen burn just because you say it doesn't happen. Heck, we've even had people on these message boards trying to get SETI to replace their monitor because of screen burn.

2. There is an option to keep it steady. Didn't I mention that in my last post?

Some people don't want it to stop moving, because a static image causes screen burn. Personally, I love the SETI screen saver and I think it looks nice. It could use a little less wobble, but as has been stated, that can be adjusted via your preferences.

Yes, I did. And this also has nothing to do with BOINC and everything to do with SETI.

Also, sometimes the error message is NOT servers may be temporarily down. Sometimes it says Cannot connect to server.

OK, so when the message is something different, is it hard to come here and ask questions if you are unsure? And even if it cannot connect to server, that is either a problem with your PC, your router or the SETI server - how does this make BOINC "bad"? And since SETI Classic had even less descriptive error messages, how was it better than BOINC?
