I know of a few secret involving google, so I thought I would share them.

1)Go to google an dtype in Google Gothic. Instead of just pressing search press I'm feeling lucky

2)In google Earth press CTRL-ALT-A (Command-Option-A on a Mac)

3) In Picasa press CTRL-SHIFT-Y to see the strang teddy bears.

4) For the simplest possible interface go to http://www.google.com/ie

5) See all of the misspellings of Brittany Spears http://www.google.com/jobs/britney.html

6) Google and Dilbert

7) Google's finances

8) Google Gulp

9) Easter animation

10) Bouncing heart

11) Cheat Sheet

Here is a quick tutorial on how to change the text on your Windows XP start bar. Let me please start with this disclaimer:

I have tested this on one of my comps, so I know that it works. It is very easy to make a mistake doing this which could screw up your explorer.exe file (which is the heart of XP). I am not responsible for anything that goes awry if you try this!

With that said this can be a fun little modification to XP :)

First off download resource hacker from this site: http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Next open resource hacker and go to file->open and navigate to c:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

On the side navigation go to string table and look for 37 and then click 1033

You should see this:
{
578, "start"
579, "There was an internal error and one of the windows you were using has been closed."
580, "Restrictions"
581, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
590, "Hiding your inactive notification icons..."
591, "To see the hidden icons, click this button."
}

change the text that says "start" to whatever you want.
Next click compile script.

Save (remember to use save as!) this in your windows directory as newstart.exe (or some other name that does not conflict with another executable file's name)

Next go to run and type in regedit

Go to
 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon

In the right pane double click the shell entry. Change the Value data to:
newstart.exe (or whatever you named your file)

Reboot your system to see the changes.

WARNING:
Please also be aware that if you have Ad-Aware SE installed on your computer, it may detect the shell modification as spyware. needless to say, do not delete the file! If you choose to do so, explorer.exe will be permanently deleted, resulting in Windows failing to start.

Some pictures of what happens at Pi Hour in the themes. The City Scape Pi Hour is especially appropriate.

Type this into run in XP:
C:\Windows\system32\oobe\images\title.wma

It should bring up a hidden song.

Go to run and type in CMD

Then use this command:

telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

Then just sit back and enjoy the show.

I have never really trashed anything or had to resort to a backup.....
I just always warn folks any time I refer to a 'regedit' trick, because I don't want them to think it's like just doing a google search or something. You are tinkering with the inner workings of Windows, and I don't want a noobie thinking that it can be done recklessly...you can do some fun and useful tweaks that cannot be reached from the Windows GUI...but you have to realize what you are doing is all.
For a few days last week, I had my Frozen Penny reporting as a Brambleweeny 2000 processor....Kitty Family 4, Model Meow, Clawing Level 9.
