Hi Whiskey....
I bet this is not a bartender from the Emirates!
It must be kind of difficult imagine a country with strict laws against alcoholic drinks....the typical bar/pub as we know them here in Europe, they must be quite different over there. Maybe you can post us some pics of actual locations and their premises, to see how they look like....
Cheers anyway.

and the thread "United Arab Emirates"

In the thread "THINK" I posted about the western media being economical with the truth because it isn't good to have the world know the whole truth about moderate Arab countries. Heck, you may even start to like Arabs and Dubai. :)

WRONG.

There are dozens of bars and nightclubs of every nationality.
There are at least three Trader Vic's
An Irish Pub called "The Irish Village" (Google it)Dubai, The Irish Village.
More English bars than I know of.
Australian, Fillipino, French, German Beer Keller etc. etc. etc.

The list is long.

Cheers.

Why was it that when the US went to liberate Kuwait, I understood that the soldiers weren't allowed to drink under Muslim law?

Let me enlighten you sir..

All of the Arab peninsula countries are "DRY" except..

Bahrain, Oman and the UAE...

Had you read the thread "United Arab Emirates" and the team recruitment thread "UAE Residents" you would know that of the seven Emirates only one has an alcohol ban, Sharjah, but Hotel guests are allowed to drink in their rooms.

Cheers.
