hi guys , this is my first post here... I am having a weird issue... I run my seti@home using the BOINC manager in ubuntu 7.04 . That computer has a:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz

2 gb ram.

Near that computer I use my MacBook for SETI too, which has :

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz

3 gb ram.

The thing is that the laptop is performing FAR faster than the Ubuntu machine.

You can go here and check for yourself:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=8891607

the laptop takes like 14.500 seconds maximum to crunch a signal. However the Ubuntu machine is taking 18.000 seconds max ( that's 5 hours ) for a signal.

I know this is not normal, any ideas ?

Suggestion: Upgrade to UBUNTU 8.0.4

My laptop is almost identical to yours, but performs more than twice as well as yours, although it is heavily used 10 hours/day and restricted while I work.

John, can only complete with the same angle rates. Due the different angle rates the crunching time varry.
John, you are using the new SETI@home Enhanced Multibeam application(5.27), and Mr.Gando the SETI Enhanced Application (5.13).
If I compare the same angle rates between your system, Mr.Gando's system is a lot of faster, but the application he use do a lot of less science than the Multibeam Enhanced application. - Mr. Gando, I recommend you to upgrade to the newest SETI Enhanched Mulitbeam application. A upgrade to the newest Ubuntu release is not needed.

An upgrade to the newest Ubuntu release is not needed.
Not needed, but UBUNTU 8.0.4 is improved in many ways.
