I'll post this here initially as I'm not sure where else to put it. It can be moved somewhere else more suitable if need be.

When I post to a Seti forum my computer insists on downloading the whole thread again, I make the post, and it then downloads the whole thread a second time. To actually see the post, yes you've guessed it, it downlods it all a third time. Can take up to 1/4 hour to make one post.

I make this assumption due to constant "waiting for..." messages, and router lights looking like an xmas tree. Anyone any ideas.

Get more bandwidth?

WEll that would solve the speed of download problem, but why does it need to download the thread 3 times? Surely there should be a copy in the cache to refer to? I only get this problem with Seti, not with other forums I use.

Dunno.......I am using the Seamonkey browser......the updated version of Netscape......all works just grand here......

Try changing some settings in http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/edit_forum_preferences_form.php:

Message display
What to display

Hide avatar images
Hide signatures
Show images as links

Check all 3 of these.

Also:

If a thread contains more than this number of posts
only display the first one and this many of the last ones.

Set these to something like 25 and 10.
