Why is it that one of my two machines receives tasks that are huge taking 15-30 hrs to complete and the other one receives small tasks 2-6 hrs to finish. The first computer is slow 930mhz where as the second is a 3.0 ghz. Can this be controlled? Why does the slower 930mhz never receive a high priority wu. |

The first computer is slow 930mhz where as the second is a 3.0 ghz. If I am understanding correctly, the 933MHz system gets 15-30 hr tasks while the 3GHz gets 2-6 hr tasks? That would simply be the difference in hardware. The faster the CPU, the quicker it takes to complete a workunit. Why does the slower 930mhz never receive a high priority wu. There are no explicit "high priority" workunits. "High priority" is simply a friendlier name for Earliest Deadline First, meaning that BOINC feels there may be a risk in completing the workunit before the deadline, so it switches its method of crunching workunits from FIFO (first in, first out in order of download) to whichever has the earliest deadline. Note that "high priority" mode does not crunch any faster than standard mode. |

Now you know. *If you have a funny sense of humor like I do, I could always say: There are no stupid questions, but there are sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots! (don't take that seriously, just trying to lighten up the mood). |

Those are the ones you choose not to ask... "A foolish man hoards questions. A wise man collects answers." |
