I have not found the correct combination of search terms to find what I thought I'd read before ...

A client has completed WUs but no longer has internet connection. What is general process for returning results via a *different* Windows computer?

Is there somewhere this is already discussed?

CPU#1 - no internet connection
CPU#2 - yes internet connection

1) backup/copy whole BOINC directory tree to removable media (on BOTH computers)

2) on CPU#2, delete boinc dir-tree
3) on CPU#2, copy CPU#1's boinc dir-tree from removable media into proper location
4) on CPU#2, set all projects to 'no new work'
5) on CPU#2, update all projects till all results returned

6) on CPU#2, delete CPU#1's boinc dir-tree
7) on CPU#2, restore CPU#2's boinc dir-tree from backup/removable media
8) restart CPU#2 boinc client

Helfin

If all you need to do is report work you you do not have to go to all that trouble.

Force a "Benchmark" on CPU#1 before copying the files to removable media. This should prevent the first thing that happens is a benchmark runs on CPU#2. Then copy the files to the removable media.

Stop CPU#2 BOINC

Copy the CPU#1 "BOINC" Folder to the root drive.
Unplug the network cable
Start BOINC (CPU#1 folder) Insure that No New Work is selected for all projects.
Plug in the network cable and select the projects that need to report completed results and have them update.

When the Update is complete, stop BOINC in CPU#1 folder... Remove the BOINC Folder (or copy it back to the removable media for when yo get network connectivity back).

Start BOINC CPU# 2
Do a manual update cycle of your projects and then check your computers at the various projects. What you are looking for is creation of another instance of the CPU#2 computer that you might need to merge (hopefully not).

Regards
